It depends, honestly if you have the budget and money and really want that particular domain name, go for it, if not search for a cheaper alternative.

Keep in mind, there is no such thing as a "Premium domain name". Only domain name that are being sold at a premium price.
If you want that particular domain name bad enough, then go for it, but it will not be any better then a standard domain name.

$1000 is not too much if you find it more worth to invest and developing site for earning more money.
On the other hand, you can buy a domain with $10 and using the rest of money to invest content and services for your websites. That will help you to earn more while spending less.

No domain name is worth more than the average $14.95, Lol may be google and yahoo. It based on what the purpose of the domain are you planning to use that domain as a potenial traffic source due to its name ? or it seo ranking potential or already ranked high? these are only reason why I seeing it worth that much. What I recommend is buying a similar domain .

You would also want to check the metrics of the domain that you are looking to buy. You will invest $1k in this domain, but make sure that this domain that you are going to purchase will yield you 10x the value.

First of all it's about the requirements of your business. If it want a premium domain name then you should buy it I know companies buying 2500$ domain for their business and it's paid off.
