How to point a subdomain to an IP address?

My domain is being hosted on an IP address and I want to pint point a subdomain to another ip address on a same host or different hosting. Is it possible and how can I do this?

If you're using cpanel , here's what to do :

1. Add a subdomain under 'subdomains'
2. Go to 'advanced zone editor' and select your subdomain
3. Add an A record and in the 'address' field put the IP of your destination host

All done.

Just create an A record and create subdomain and put the ip there.

All done.
After created this how can I connect mySQL database? it is connected remotely?
I think there are tons of problems if I point a subdomain to a new IP
