Most of people are using Wordpress cms for their sites, build an eCommerce site or just a simple blog, but we all didn't know how to measure its performance, I most used is Google PageSpeed and Pingdom tool, other than that, I don't have any better tools to check which my web hosting gave me or improve performance for my sites? I heard about some tools like New Relic, MySQL Tuner, Linux Top, Zend Server Z-Ray but seem they are only for web hosting experts.

Tools like pingdom are the only way of monitoring sites performance without having root access to the server.

WordPress performance is mostly due to plugins causing problems. check out here

Site speed depends on what theme you are using and what hoting you are in. If your site is hosted on shared hosting it will run much slower compared to VPS and or dedicated servers
