Do I need to have 2 IP addresses to create DNS?

I am learning to manage an unmanaged VPS, in CWP it has a place to create DNS

example:

Code:

IP1 -> ns1.example.com
IP2 -> ns2.example.com

My question is, Do I need to have 2 IP addresses to create DNS? or just one?

Code:

IP1 -> ns1.example.com
IP1 -> ns2.example.com

If I only use one IP address for creating DNS then it can cause some issues for my VPS?

No problem! minimum 2 IPs required if both of the name servers are in Different subnets.

You should use two ip if you want to create your own DNS server. But as you are running a VPS, the best solution is to shutdown the DNS server and to use any other DNS hosting such as Cloudflare. Or you can start your own anycast DNS servers with 8 VPS around the world ^^

What are different subnets?

A subnet is a range of ip. defined by the first ip of the block, and his size. Example 192.168.0.0/28 is not on the same subnet than 192.168.0.18/30 as /28 means a mask of 255.255.255.240 and you have only 16 IP in your block.

No I mean, just shutdown your DNS server and use cloudflare to do it for you. Because if you can run yourself a DNS server, there is no reason to do it because it will use resources (a lot if it's BIND) and your DNS will never been as fast as Cloudflare DNS.

Even if you have a bad web hosting, with cloudflare your website address is resolved faster.
