What is the difference between Ubuntu and Linux?

When choosing a new VPS, I got confused between choosing OS Ubuntu and Linux. For running PHP sites, which OS should I select for my VPS that more secure and stable? Thanks

If you want to install whm/cpanel on your vps then go for CentOS!

Why so ? I would have recommended Debian or Ubuntu since he is new to Linux. There are a lot of tutorials and guides available on them.

Yes but I've seen many people having zero knowledge of linux. They use shared hosting with cpanel mostly.
You can find a lot of tutorials on internet but cpanel/whm provides step by step guide, forum support and can resolve your technical issues if you are having a VPS/dedicated license!
In simple words, for newbie and time savers, cpanel is the best option!

I use Ubuntu on PC as well. So I got used to the commands and understand better. There is lesser learning curve when you use Debian or Ubuntu ( a derivative of Debian ). You just have all commands familiar so there is less difficulty managing command line interface for server. Plus there are a lot of guide on Ubuntu / Debian as well.
