I am setting up a new domain in Google webmaster tool and curious which is better for SEO? WWW or non-WWW in URL?

for example

Code:
http://example.com
or
http://www.example.com
which is more advantages? if I select non-www, do i need to add a redirection for my domain?

Please explain me! thanks

Preferred domain name should start with www. There no advantages and dis-advantages between them but it is recommended to use the www version.

It just matters when you don't set a preferred version, both are the same.

Nope, I dont think it matters alot. However If you are using SSL in your site, then you should use https in your URL as google will consider it a separate property

I don't think it makes any real difference. Personally I like with www

It doesn't really matter too much one way or the other if you do or do not use the "www". Just make sure to do a proper 301 redirect from the one you aren't using to the one that you are using.

As for me, I usually always try to use the "www" unless it doesn't look right (many reasons) or if the domain name is real long.

F.Y.I. Take a look at Google. They use the "www" as does Facebook and a vast amount of the top websites. Maybe they know best? ;)

Domain with www is more advantages and you need to redirect non-www to www for better performance

Even with a 301 redirect, just be consistent. If you go with www. then make sure every link you post contain www. - When google does a 301 redirect it deducts like 15% of the page link juice, so you want to avoid that as much as possible.

It depends on the preference of webmaster for redirect to www or without www and this could easily be done with .htaccess or redirect feature from cpanel. when you redirect all google will crawl particular domain either with www or without www
