Do you consider how your site works with mobile devices?

Many blog sites today are running well on different platforms such as smartphones and tablets, number of mobile users are increasing day by day. Do you consider utilizing these media platforms for your sites?

Absolutely. All sites and web apps I make are 100% responsive. 70%+ users browse via cell phone. A bad idea is not to be mobile ready. It even has a marginal effect on SEO.

Last year I changed my template so it could be mobile-friendly. I'm glad that I did. I can see from my tracking that I get a lot of people who visit my site are using mobile-phones. I'm so glad I made the change because if I hadn't that would of been people that I would have been missing out on.

I have a few sites that pretty much require you to use a PC in
order to benefit from the product/service being offered, so, I
never gave any thought to making sure those sites were mobil
friendly...

HUGE MISTAKE...

I received an email one day from a guy who said he was thinking
about subscribing to one of my membership sites but that he was
on the fence. When he decided to join, he was at work so he tried
to subscribe using his phone so his account would be all set when
he returned to his home PC...

He had such a hard time signing up that he decided to sign up with
one of my competitors...

I IMMEDIATELY changed my thinking, LOL...
( In MY book, one lost sale is 1 too many, you know... )

And rightfully so. Using enhanced tracking software, I was able to not
only see a small spike in my subscription rate, but noticed quite a few
of my subscribers actually join from their mobile phones and/or tablets
and simply access the members area later on from their PCs. Many of
them will actually login using their mobil to see if there is any need to
go to their PC...

I emailed the guy a few weeks later and offered him a FREE 6 month
membership to my site in hopes of him becoming a paid customer... I
am happy to report that he is, indeed, now a paying customer...

My point is... never underestimate the power of the mobile users,
even if your site is more geared towards PC users for one reason
or another.

I agreed with much of what's already been said. You have to be mobile friendly, just can't ignore it these days. Coupled with the fact that many people thought they needed to do it to make google happy.

Same with me, had customers commenting a site wasn't so usable on their phone. Plus I know many of my customers use tablets.

Surprisingly though, see so many really old sites and web pages still out there.

Yes of course, any webmaster should consider that as just part of being a webmaster.

Yes mobile searches well out perform desktop searches now.

But desktop searches are still growing as more people get online.

So your site needs to be not just desktop friendly, but mobile friendly, tablet friendly etc.

And friendly/usable on all sized screens, resolutions, browsers etc.

I use mobile site checkers like mobiletest.me, ready.mobi, and Google Mobile-Friendly test and sites like browsershots.org validator.w3.org/mobile to gleam information about how my site looks on different browsers, screen sizes etc.

And if they don't load/work properly in one browser/OS/screen res you need to find out why and fix it.

That's how you make your site truly people friendly.

Well responsive is the buzz word now: thinking of mobile device should be the first thing when we design websites irrespective of its niche: We know most of the end users use mobile , tablets in the current era: so yes its highly important

Yes, everyone must. If you have analytics for your site(s), just check and see how many people actually visit with mobile devices. If you want to cater to them, then make sure your site works.
