If you want to get search engine traffic then you have to optimize your blogger blog for search engines, but if you don't want search traffic then it's not necessary for you to do SEO.

Last thing, does site design matters? I am using free theme right now.
Yes, always think about the end user. Make sure your blog looks as good as possible and it has to be user friendly even if you're using a free theme.

Some are SEO optimized articles which are automatically given more importance by google. So, it depends what kind of articles you have submitted..

Anyway , it is necessary to do SEO on blogspot as well..

Premium themes always work better than free themes since it makes your site look more professional

Hello, Hugo. While Blogspot sites do rank well in Google (because it's owned by Google), it's most likely still going to be necessary for you to do some search engine optimization in order to get ranked higher up in the search engines and get traffic. How much or little you will have to do, however, really depends on the competition for the particular keyword phrase you are trying to get ranked for. If you are using a Blogspot blog as part of a campaign for a product launch, you will most definitely need to do more than that.

It's just like any other platform you'd use. It would mean that you have to write more. Let's say that you are promoting a relationship guide or something like that. In the guide, it's got like 10 tips to get your ex back or something like that. You could write an article on blogpost that talks about one or two of them and like combine that with your own personal experience. In the end, you could say something like "If you like these tips, click the link below to check out [product x] to learn more tips on how to get your ex back."

You would link the blogspot article to your review. Nowadays, when you do product launches, it's really important to put your main product reviews on your own site (have your own domain and hosting), so that you can control the content. Product launches are really more about timing than anything else. This is why it's important for you to know who the leaders in your niche are and get on their lists. If you're on their lists, you can be one of the first people to be notified when new products come out, and then, you can get ranked before anyone else.

Blogspot is owned by Google. That means that a blog content is indexed in the best possible way by that company. You only need to create relevant and original content and in a little time it will be on the first results page.

Make sure your on site content is optimized for the search terms your aiming for. Try and get some outbound links to get a higher page rank.

Any website or blog needs SEO work done to increase it's rankings in the SE's. Some need more setup or back-end work than others but no matter what, you must practice some SEO good practices to get the best possible search results.

Things like article/story/post titles that are SEO'd, proper keyword saturation (not too much, yet enough to show what the content is relevant for) and some other things.

No matter what platform/service/etc. you have a website or blog built/created with or on, SEO must be practiced if you want your content to rank as best as possible.

Just because your blog is hosted on Blogspot doesnt mean your blog will be a hit. They may have high domain authority for blogspot.com but huge.blogspot.com is not even close to the same authority.

so YES you need to do SEO to be successful.

As for the theme it only matters to make sure your theme has everything in the right place on the backend. What I do is I find various free services by searching "how search engines see your site". This basically strips away the bells and whistles and looks at your sites core. Watch for anything out of place like missing tags, titles/keywords in the wrong place or blocked content.

Best of luck
