As in all forum type questions you will get answers correct from each poster's point of view and experience. What you need to do is check first with your "niche" which is to say, your area of expertise and writing style. If you don't know what a writing style is, then forget about using any duplicated material - follow the advice above.
Many authority sites use "duplicated" content without losing seo benefits, in fact, Google features them in their news aggregator. Google duplicates content as a business model. Like in most aspects of content writing and "fair use" practice, it matters "HOW" you use referent content.
I suggest that the best way to use your own content (article) over and over again on guest blogs is to use references just like you see in the news and niche authority sites. Take a look at them, especially those in your niche to see how they implement "duplicate content" from other blogs and information sources - use the very same technique in the same quality (quantity). If an article refers to another one, see how many times it refers to the original and how it affords a reader to find said information.
If you are the original author, you shouldn't have a problem with re-working your article many different ways while preserving the key instructional and relative structure to your view and posit.
That being said, guest blogger hosts are not too well versed in this usage themselves, so you will find resistance to your writing style. But I wouldn't worry about that because the better bloggers will like your articles and you will fare much better on their blogs which will be of higher quality, authority and benefit to you anyway.
Guest blogger hosts should also educate themselves in the proper usage of content, reference and curated content and seek out contributors that display knowledge and expertise in their portfolio of prior article submissions.
