I want to know Link Exchange is a Part of Black Hat SEO or not?

I am still seeing more webmasters and SEO people doing link exchange on their sites, is it working today?

Link exchange can get you penelised per the Penguins update.

I know some that still use exchanges, and claim to get good results, but you have to be very careful!

Three-ways work great.

No it is not black hat. People throw that term around too lightly. Black hat in my mind is doing stuff like using hidden text, cloaking, hacking sites for links, using doorway pages, etc.

Even they can be harmful in some cases doesn't mean that they are black hat, sometimes it requires common sense to use proper amount of any link building method, for example i have a site on the same niche with my friend it would be benefit both of us exchanging each other link.

But it would be bad idea and might lead to punishment if you're going to exchange with some 10 random sites, everything has pros and cons, so as i said it needs some sense to know how much you should do.

No it's not black linking. A good examples of black linking are hidden text or links, doorways linking etc.

Backlink exchange is a common concept and it's mean a lot of kinds. Most of you are think about put link on footer, sidebar or sidewide links, then it could hurt your site. But in another kind, we can do link exchange on article, put relavent link on each article.

For example: Both owners have tech news sites, then they can find the article that match with their sites and put links into it as recommendation, read more, also read .... etc. It would be great to boost SERPs also.

What do you think ? I have done this before and now still doing it, it's working well.

Link exchange is not a part of Black Hat SEO, But if links are exchange with the low quality and non category site then it will penalize your site.
