I am one of those dudes who run an online course and perhaps one of those dudes who don't get a sale after making shares and boosted post on my facebook page.

well what can i say than i find my self using what i really don't like and what i really wish i can change, but just while i want to , i have a re-taught, cause every one feels having 20k fanpage makes you an authority , i also feel having 3k likes on a single post share make you outstanding.

yea having likes and shares with less productivity than page views - suffering in silence :(

Facebook is good for establishing your business... there's also a lot of traffic there (one good "lucky" move in right direction can bring you more than any other media - it relies on virality).

Maybe you shouldn't target sales directly with post boosting... maybe you should use facebook as additional user experience and build strong base of followers and community that you'll convert with some other channels.

No... buying fb likes will only make you look more authority figure, but you can't monetize them in any way (if you mean buying fans on some marketplaces, not thru fb ads).

If you want to get new likes to your fan page by running ads, then it would be good idea to turn them to subscribers asap... You can achieve that by having an embedded post on page with promise of high quality ebook/video/software/whatever as a gift for clicking the link. Of course before that they'll need to leave the email address to you before receiving that...

Understand that people come on fb to run away from everyday (and part of everyday life in capitalism is buying/selling) and to socialize. So don't sell them on fb, rather turn them to subscribers. That way they'll respect you as someone who wants to help... while actually you are directing them to do do exactly as you want with their "free will".
Once they become subs you can monetize them more than once...

Once again, the key is to make a community out of your fb audience... that way you won't need to bost posts, they will come and check what's new on your page!

P.S. let me know if this makes sense to you... it is really late over here and I am tired from whole day :D
