I personally would not bother with setting up a video blog... Its basically a splog... Spam blog whereby all that you are doing is auto-populating your site with videos from sites such as Youtube via RSS or other interfaces... Waste of time... There are so many sites like this... Look great but get no traffic...

If however you develop a site where people can upload/share videos then that would be different but difficult to build it up as it requires a lot of members to make it successful and the competition is fierce...

With a normal blog you are more likely to get traffic when using unique original content.... That aside using videos are useful but in the context of supporting your written articles etc as that can help with keeping your bounce rates low and increasing user interaction....

I no longer see a lot of video blogs these days, what I see are normal blogs with original content. It's better to create your own blog and upload your own videos and articles. Why should I bother visiting your website if I can just go straight to Youtube or Vimeo to get the same thing and even more related ones?

People want something unique and top quality is also important. I do share other people's videos on my blog but it's not something I frequently do, I only do it if it's the latest "niche related" news or a new interview with a popular person in my niche.

Stick to original content and create your own videos as well as articles and use them on one blog, no need to create separate video blog and normal blog.

I personally like video blogs. But one word of caution is know what you are talking about. Do not sit there and go um or make long pauses as this is rather annoying.

Video Blog and Normal Blog have their specific applications.

Certain topics, products or services are better presented visually online than just read as an article. Video blogs are most effective when you present subjects involved with travel and tourism, food and restaurant, tutorials/product demo/applications, entertainment (TV, movies, games), news and public affairs, testimonials, special events. Vlogs can be easily understood and offers instant reactions. The only drawback I can see here is need to invest in good camera/other equipment, time, effort and costs involved in shooting the video and editing which requires presenting a well-organized narration complete with sound and visual effects in a short period of time. Vlogs do not require a highly proficient writer but deals mostly with the host's charisma for the entertainment values and awakenings imparted to the audience.

Blogs are best with most products and companies especially when the information you need to convey is long, detailed or complex. . A content requires good writers or if not, editors who can improve writing structures or correct mistakes/ errors. You can insert mini visual presentation if necessary. Contents must be relevant to your target market and take into consideration achieving SEO.

Blogs and vlogs used separately or in combination are both great ways for you to promote your business or make money.

There are pros and cons available on this two topic/choices.

If you are going to go with video blogging, face has its value. Voice has its use. preparations before video is necessary. Viewers will evaluate you based on what you look in camera. Maybe not all but sharing things with not so good-looking face is a minus point. However, You can still go with that especially you have a unique topic and good communication skills.

If you go with the normal blog, Make sure you can write any topic with enthusiasm and passion. Content writers mostly do this and I believe this is better for starters.

Overall Be the best when sharing your ideas and passion on cam or off cam because it still all boils down to what you can give your audience.
