Hiya Nimimica,

If you are just starting out then my recommendation would be to just start a simple wordpress blog on a subject you are passionate about... Build up your posts and then overtime offer a newsletter in return for a bonus incentive.... i.e. when you begin to get traffic.... In addition I would look for affiliate products which complement your chosen niche via your newsletter as well as product reviews on your website... I would then expand to social networking sites as well as related forums as additional efforts to contribute to your niche group which will help to funnel traffic to your site....

Beyond that I would then consider developing your own products and launching affiliate programs... As then you should of built a list of subscribers which will help with sales...

There is indeed a lot to learn... Hence why you should adopt a plan and a roadmap so that you keep it simple... e.g.

Short term plan (1-6 months):
1) Choose niche
2) Identify relevant content e.g. 50+ articles
3) Write/post articles every xx days
4) Identify autoresponder and add to blog as newsletter
5) Identify bonus incentive for newsletter
6) Identify affiliate products to promote
7) Develop/implement off-site promotion e.g. social networking, related forums.. Post on this platforms/add value every xx days... Use Sig link to funnel traffic to website, identify related resources for guest postings for backlinking as well as traffic etc...
8) Consider video marketing...

Mid/Long Term (i.e. 6 months - 1 year):
1) Develop your own product
2) Join affiliate network as vendor
3) Announce product on JV announcement sites

... etc

Good luck.... Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Sid

I'm not a big online earner but i'm kind a happy with my online earnings
and there is a so many roads that you can make money online
I can only tell you what worked for me only
I started and still promote other peoples product as an (affiliate)

and there is certain components make me easier to earn commission with my campaigns

1. mindset (i didn't focus on making money right of the bet)
2. main focus (my main focus in building subscribers and be nice to them although that i'm not a copywriter and english is not even my second language, i do outsourcing and love it)

3. crafting lead magnet and high converting landing pages
4. traffic ( i only do FB and bing only those traffic source) for now i reached upto 7500 raven subscribers for those two traffic source only

5. planning to scale it up

my advice to you is to start some thing, take action and stick to it. sure you will see results

i hope that helps

The most important thing is FOCUS. Have a look at ways of driving traffic and find one you are happy with. Could be article marketing, not my favourite, too much hard work, Blogging, you need to be controversial and offer real value to get traction, ranking videos on youtube, there are several very good courses around on that or any other way you can think of.

I know of someone who specialises in press releases and has been driving significant buyer traffic to a website offering a physical product she imported and got the UK rights for. She has been getting consitent traffic for over a year now.

Once you find something you are comfortable doing learn everything you can about it and become an expert. (Expert = somebody who knows more than most other people - not that hard. Earn as you learn) If you look at the big boys, every single one of them has a core product that everything else flows from. If you can become an expert at one thing then you can create a range of products for your funnel. eg a short free report to get customers on your list, a more in-depth report as your front end product, an audio / video course as your upsell, a monthly tips product as a continuity product, a home study course and even 1 - 1 coaching.

Focus Focus Focus, choose what it is ignore everything else. Driving traffic by one method, paid or free, doesn't matter, and everthing else can flow from that.

Oldnickb - Great post!!! I love the fact that you emphasized the word "FOCUS".... I have that acronym written on my whiteboard as follows: FOCUS = Follow One Course Until Success... ;-)

I love that! I'm going to print that out in big letters and put it on my wall. Problem I have is I've coached several people to success but don't do what I teach myself! That's what comes of having a coaching background. I always have to check out everything new to see if it's good. If it is, I stop doing it and teach it instead!

I think the advice from "elcidofaguy" is the best one but to really succeed in Internet marketing, I think there are a lot of things you can learn like SEO, writing good articles, how to use an autoresponder, how to build/modify a site (WordPress, HTML, PHP...), how to create videos, how to promote a product...
You can learn some of them with time and experience and for the rest, you can still outsource. There are lot of people (freelancers) on Internet offering their services.

But as other said before, stay focused. Good luck.
