Hi Jonathan85,

Great post! I have a couple of points in addition to yours:

1) Within G's WMT you can request G bot to visit/crawl your site... However the time period between crawling and being reflected in the SERPs is another matter... and as such can be a waiting game once G has visited...

2) Posting regular content indeed helps - as that over time will teach G's crawler that they should visit more often. You can set the frequency also within your sitemap xml file as an additional measure... However in order for this to be effective you must keep to schedule wrt posting updates as otherwise it will be ignored.

3) Be careful with pinging sites... In fact I no longer use this due to the amount of spam that can follow as well as stolen content... In addition I am sure that my sites have been targeted with scripts attempting to hack entry via wp logon... Also DDOS attacks can also be based on this through xmlrpc.php exploitation. Hence I now disable this feature within WP via .htaccess. To illustrate:

4) Another great way to get G to visit your site in addition to commenting, social media etc - is via video marketing i.e. upload youtube video with link in description...

5) Also check your web server logs or check cache date within SERPs to see when G last visited... If its recently then I'm afraid there is nothing you can do other than wait for G to update the SERPs to reflect your new/changed content...

... again appreciate your post! You should consider entering the http://www.webmastersun.com/threads/8330-Blog-Articles-Contest-Award-50-to-The-Winner!
