Yahoo mail and Gmail are two of the most popular email services. I need to create an email-box for serious and responsible work and I will be receiving messages all the time so I need to get accessed to email all the time. Could you advice me which mail should I choose?

Hi Anna,

I think you should go with Gmail. It has a cleaner and more user-friendly platform compared to Yahoo, based on my experience. You can also make use of the Google suite that's integrated with Gmail.

If you're looking for an alternative to Gmail, you may want to go with Outlook instead.

There are some differences with Gmail you can do attachments from the same screen where you are composing, while Yahoo moves onto another page for attachments. Another important thing is Gmail chat is integrated you can chat with contacts from same email windows whereas yahoo is sticks with independent yahoo messenger. There is another difference in gmail contacts automatically save and in yahoo you have to do it manually.

You will see in future that you will need both of them depending on which one the people your trying to communicate with are using.

I think the Gmail is more simpler (and combination of calendar, drive and docs) to use and it's faster worldwide, I do use yahoo services too but I don't like it.

I think it's depends on personal choice.

Well, from my opinion I'd say that if Yahoo wasn't degraded somehow, it definitely stagnated.
And as you can see, all other members here tended for Gmail.

yahoo uses HTML a lot, gmail uses AJAX (Asynchronous JAVA and XML) AJAX files are smaller and more manageable than HTML. also, google uses something called GFS (Google File System), which is not only very fast (see the speed of Google search), but can handle a lot of files. Furthermore, GMail has a lot of servers which can hold more data

I prefer using Gmail services as they are more user friendly and there are numerous customization options that help to read your emails and categorize them accordingly. The hangout is the most preferred one which helps to converse directly with friends and family.

Well, Gmail has improved themselves in course of time, but Yahoo has not been upto the mark since last updates. But still the Yahoo news features and floating bar looks quite attractive which Google doesn't have until now

I think people nowadays use Gmail over all other webmail because of its speed. They offer more storage and other features, and it's free. YahooMail Storage is on the low side - only 1 GB, which is less than half of what Gmail offers.

Well in my own experience I will prefer to recommend you to use gmail because its more useful than yahoo mail. Using gmail can be link on paypal, youtube, blogger and there are sites that mostly requires gmail than yahoo mail like on most online jobs or even playing an online games. That is my own experience and any suggestion of others will be respected.

Gmail is still the best option so far when it comes to the range of features. Google suites comes in handy for starters as it has all the features you need, especially if you're big on documents. Plus, the free storage is great!

While Google is more user-friendly, Yahoo claims to be more secure though, as they're big on authentication and spam filtering. So I guess it's a trade-off between them. But that's still pretty much manageable in exchange with the features that you get with Gmail.

I noticed that most of the people I know are using Gmail because it is user-friendly and well-designed layout which is not confusing. Personally, I have both but I use my Yahoomail more often since it is what I am using for eight years already and all my important files are there.

I have both Gmail and Yahoo, but I usually have all my important emails on Gmail. It's easier to use, less ads, and it connects easily with YouTube and facebook, 2 of my most used site. I also like the storage feature of Gmail and actually I have already stored all my important files there. My first email though was yahoo but it has obviously been replaced by Gmail in time.

In opinion you should choose the Gmail because google need to verify through Gmail and gmail is easy to use than yahoo. Gmail have lots of connections than yahoo that's why I prefer Gmail than yahoo.

For me, I would prefer using Gmail and here is why:

First off, Simplicity. If you observe and compare the two mailing sites, Gmail undeniably looks minimalist and user-friendly. There is no complicated tabs that will pop up whenever you click a mail in your inbox. For me Gmail has the upper hand in this one.

Secondly, I like the convenience Google has to offer. Since it is linked to Google, Gmail gives you a "One click away" feature when you are, for example, downloading a game or verifying a purchase. Majority of sites are universally linked to Google to give you a convenient user experience.

Lastly, I don't know if you know this but Yahoo is currently experiencing major breakdowns. I disabled my email account because of the frequent spam messages and gags that "floods" my inbox. As a user, I find it irritating and inconvenient.

In my opinion, using gmail is better than using yahoo mail.
As I've observed, yahoo mail can't accommodate large files while gmail can. Also gmail is a lot simpler than yahoo mail.

I've used Yahoo mail before but when introduced with Gmail, I've forgotten Yahoo mail completely. Mostly because Gmail.is very user friendly and is very much easier to use and navigate unlike Yahoo mail.
