It is a better practice to keep your website name and domain names alike. Think of the name of your website first and then create the domain name out of it. Remember to shorten or change the domain name a bit to make it catchy. Try to avoid using very long names of your domain. You may check the name of your domain through checkdomain.com

It is a good practice to have your domain name and website address the same for the reason that your users will find it very easy to remember.

A good domain name should be simple, short and easy to recall.

It is better to match your domain name exactly like your web address for easy identification and searching. Your domain name may also be a shortened version of the web name or address if it is too long, just like a nickname to a person's full name. In that way, the identification and easy referencing is not lost.

Unless when one is established way ahead of the other and not closely identical as in the case of one domain name but multiple websites, some other special considerations have to be done.

It can always be different. It's up to you whether to use the same or different names. The only thing to consider is viewers would most likely be confused if the names are different. They might search either one of them and not find your site. So it's always better and wiser to have the same name. It would be easier to remember and the chance of viewers coming back is higher. It's also a great way to be in higher search results.

Your domain name is basically your signboard in cyberspace. So it has to be short, simple and easy to remember. That's how you get people to keep you in mind. Your website name is more like an explanation of your domain name. If it's the same as your domain name and does the job, fine. If not, say something more to make your domain name more comprehensible.

For example, let's say your domain name is Google. That's short and simple but what exactly is Google? So your website name would be something like Search Engine. That would explain what Google is.
