Many hosting providers offer free SSL certificates through services like Let’s Encrypt. Are these secure enough for e-commerce websites, or is it safer to invest in a paid SSL certificate?

Hi Ridoy, Security-wise, all SSL certificates, regardless of type, price, and brand, follow the same cryptographic protocols (TLS 1.2 and 1.3). If you run an e-commerce website, that is an officially registered company, you consider a paid Organization Validation certificate that verifies your business identity, and, depending on your jurisdiction, may be required to comply with Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements.

Free SSL certificates offered by Let's Encrypt verify domain ownership only and are more suitable for blogs, personal websites, and online portfolios. E-commerce sites usually opt for paid certificates, either Domain Validation or Organization Validation. Here's an in-depth article about the differences between free and paid SSL certificates.
