I had an SEO expert with decades of experience recently insist that adding keywords to the end of title tags helped hundreds of her clients rank higher in the search engines. As examples, she recommended title tags that had a character count between 80 and 120. I've read where Google gives title tags a 600-pixel width limit. Anything more than that could be truncated. I did not follow her advice.

Your thoughts ...

I do agree with apple_ways in that there are so many factors that affect rankings, but ever since Google started modifying title tags to fit what they determined to be appropriate, trying to game them by adding keywords to the end of the title tag just seems to be a tactic better left in the rearview mirror. For example, in an article about backup services, she recommended adding "dedicated servers USA" to the end of the title tag. To my mind, I don't see how that could possibly improve my ranking for that article.

For context, dedicated servers USA was never used in the article. Others were basically the same as she recommended keywords in the title tag that were never mentioned in the articles.

Keyword in the title allows search engines to determine the topic of the webpage and most important distinguish one page from another webpage, It is possible a website has two pages that may look similar but with the help of keywords in the title, the search engine can distinguish the two from each other.

By including keywords in the title tag of a webpage, search engines are better able to discern the subject matter of the page and differentiate it from other pages. It's possible that a webpage has two pages that appear very identical to one another, yet a search tool will be able to tell them apart since each page has a different keyword in its title tag.

Again for context, she recommended keywords at the end of title tags that were never mentioned in the articles and insisted this improved rankings.
