It depends on how many visitors per month you get, it also depends if you are using apache or NGINX. It depends if your VPS is optimized correctly and what type of script and plugins you are using (WordPress?).

But usually, the best is to start with a VPS unless you get hundreds of thousands of visitors per month. You could also check for a cloud because you can scale the resources easily when your website is growing.

Dedicated server hosting gives you an entire server solely reserved for your business’s uses. Such a hosting environment provides enhanced security and performance with root access to the admin. Though dedicated servers are more expensive than shared hosting or VPS hosting, it is perfect for businesses who are serious about their website and want to expand.

Dedicated hosting clearly provides better speed, more resources, and tighter security, but it comes at a cost. VPS hosting still has enough capacity for the vast majority of websites, yet it is significantly more cheap for the vast majority.

As someone else already said what kind of hosting you need for this (or any other) site really depends on how busy the site is.

  • What kind of eCommerce site is it, by which I mean what software is it running on?
  • How many products are there in the store?
  • How many visitors do you get at both average and peak moments?

Totally depends on your budget & traffic, if you can afford a dedicated server then go for it, cuz that way you dont have to worry about the factors like security, uptime, etc. but if your site has low traffic i would prefer you to get VPS

Dedicated hosting is where you will have resources assigned precisely to you and you would not have to share it with anyone else. VPS is where virtual servers would be created from one physical server and would be allocated to different users. Both of these alternatives are standard with operators for different reasons and selecting one of them might be a little difficult. Given below are a few points which will help you select the right option.

Control in web hosting

In comparison to shared hosting, dedicated hosting as well as VPS hosting offers you the control of your website. You would have more freedom and flexibility in managing your resources. Both of these options are at par with each other as far as control is concerned.

Hardware required

For dedicated server, you would have to invest in a complete set up of infrastructure and hardware since you would not be sharing it with anyone else. Compared to this, your expenses would be low with VPS than dedicated servers. Here, there would be more than one user sharing the infrastructure and hardware so you would not really need to invest in your own hardware.

The cost

One of the foremost disadvantages of dedicated hosting is the expense that it includes. There would be a wide amount of equipment and infrastructure that would be vital which makes it very expensive. Though, if you are looking for an option that would be cost effective, then you might want to consider VPS hosting. The packages for VPS that are accessible today are very sensible since the basic cost is shared. For this reason, it would be a very price effective option with the same amount of features and benefits.

Performance and security

VPS is a little more difficult likened to the dedicated servers and so you would be necessary to have a little knowledge and experience working with these serves. Though, the performance level of both, dedicated and VPS server is at par. You would not really have to face many instances where the server would be slowed down. Both of these options also offer good level of security for the websites. Every set up would be isolated from the other accounts, which is one of the reasons why the security is not a big concern.

Hello,

I think it is totally depends on your requirement. Budget is the most important concern while getting the hosting service. Dedicated hosting is more expensive than VPS hosting. VPS hosting is most affordable and reliable hosting environment for those who have just started their eCommerce store.

The ever-changing e-commerce landscape necessitates a better user experience, faster site speed, and increased security, all of which lead to better site administration. To stay ahead of the competition, website owners require the most effective web hosting choices.

Instant scalability of resources is typically required for a high-performing e-commerce platform (in case of sudden traffic spikes)
  • You need as little downtime as possible to avoid losing consumers.
  • Because the site involves monetary transactions and the exchange of personal data, it requires a high level of security, as well as a customer support team that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to quickly resolve any issues that may arise.

A dedicated server is a right choice for an e-commerce business. The VPS could serve smaller businesses but for something of a larger scale, the dedicated server would fare better.

Depends on the traffic your eCommerce site gets and also your budget.

If you have large real-time traffic and money is not an issue, go for Dedicated servers. That way your server will be more secure to handle the transactions. Even though what the owner of one website does on their VPS should not affect your website, most times it leaks into your business.

With dedicated servers, you are freer to customize as per your requirements and workaround without having to worry too much about restrictions.

Any business that is planning to expand their business or is expecting a large amount of traffic should go for dedicated hosting as they can have a full server independently for themselves. Moreover, they cannot afford the site to have downtime as it will potentially lose customers. WebHostingWorld offers great deals on dedicated hosting packages including free SSL certificates, and much more. We guarantee 99.99% uptime, 24x7 customer support, free setup and domains for life, and everything at affordable prices. Check out our dedicated hosting packages for more details.

Hey there!
Both dedicated hosting and VPS are great options for hosting your E-commerce website. But it all depends on your website's content and the traffic it receives. For example, if you're just starting out with your E-commerce site, then you'll probably be fine with the services of a VPS. You can scale up and upgrade as your E-commerce site grows with the traffic and your site's content.
But if you already experience huge traffic and have a website with some heavy resources & content or are expecting all of these things, then it is better to invest in a dedicated server. As it can easily handle all of this things and also provide reliable security to your data, for eg. your customers' confidential information.
Thank you...

You can always move from VPS to Dedicated hosting. In General, only very popular websites demand dedicated servers. Frequently VPS server it's more than enough

Agreed, VPS also has the advantage of being much more quickly and easily scalable.

It all depends on the capacities that you need, the traffic that you have on the site. If you have a well-optimized Wordpress, then a good VPS server will suffice. But the best solution seems to me to be a dedicated server, from a reliable hosting provider. This is so you don't have to worry about the future.
