Let me help you understand your question's answer using the metaphor which could look something like this: the lion is acknowledged as the king of the Jungle. But just because it is a king, does it imply that it has the luxury to rest while the deer walks up to the Lion to sacrifice itself. In order to exhibit its authority in the jungle, the Lion must roar! In order to sustain its powers, the lion must work hard and hunt its prey.

The exact way it works in the web hosting business as well. You need to be consistent in what you do. As no business can survive without customers or clients, you need to take some compelling actions to attract more traffic to your website.
No doubt you’ve heard of Social Media, Backlinks(external and internal), Forum Posting, SEO, Paid Advertisements and many more, but have you ever considered them as a traffic source? If not then I suggest you go with them on a regular basis and see how traffic will follow and you'll also get more than what are expecting.

If you have run the campaign for your brand in a social niche in your demography(like technology, development, design, etc.), it could also be a great source.

Hope you find it useful.

Cheers!

I tried to buy ads from social media as Facebook but to be honest, I didn't give me any clicks to my websites hence I am focusing on organic traffic but this seem needs time to work. I think forum is something I should use now but more forums are restricted for ads now :)

Hey Kaz,

The cost of being wrong is less than the cost of doing nothing. I can understand that the challenge for any service-based business is to make sure that when prospects look for the service like yours, they should find you instead of your competitor. But it’s not mindless paid CPC ads, Social Media boosts, SEO that help you boost organic traffic to your site rather it's how you can give your prospects and customers the exact value that they're looking for. Value might be offered in the form of quality service, advice, information, suggestion, and insights.

Google is the good traffics resources, but need work hard to do, like SEO strategies. Another traffics that might be you to consider is through social media, forum, video sharing, off line advertising, paid promotion, and many more.

The best traffic source of selling the hosting service is social media platform such as Reddit , Facebook , twitter and many of them. But i would highly recommended Reddit is the best social media platform for selling the hosting services.

There are plenty of sources for generating traffic..

Paid Sources
  1. Facebook Ads
  2. Ad words and many more.
Free traffic sources but a permanent way
  • Guest Posting - This is one of the best way to generate more traffic to your blogs, its increases dramatically.
  • Blog Commenting - Its always to comment on some good website, it can bring out some great referral traffic. If commented in a right way, avoid the one liner comment. It doesn’t make any sense at all
  • Social Media - You might have heard this plenty of times and might not getting enough traffic. If that is the case, then you need to observe the Google Analytics for you actual audience(country). And what time there are active and respectively you have to submit the links at the same time to get maximum results.

Regards,
Adrian

I'd say social media and forums.
Guest posting is also good.

Commenting on other's blog posts advertising your service IMO isn't a good thing.

There are many components that go into a great marketing and branding plan to grow a website or blog. Not only will content creation come into play, it’s also how much effort you put into your content promotion as well.
In the world of blogging, this can be done in a number of ways.
We are currently using the following methods to increase traffic, backlinks and exposure to our sites:
  • High quality blog content, case studies and tutorials
  • Social media to connect with new audiences and share blog content
  • The creation of shareable content like infographics
  • Guest blogging and article contributions on other sites
  • Creating expert round ups of other top bloggers and industry influencers
  • Getting interviewed on other podcasts and running a podcast of our own
If you implement these tips into your own marketing and content creation efforts you should see continued success.

If you are new, it will be very difficult to stand in this competitive hosting world, do not initially depend completely on this business you must have another income source.

Google ads are very expensive because many other big hosting companies are already investing huge money on hosting keywords.

Facebook advertising is also not as useful.

So forums are a good way to get new customers, you should be online on web hosting forums and answer various questions there.
