Hi everyone!

Many people want to start a personal web hosting business sitting in the confinements of their home; while some of them feel that it's not a very realistic idea, however, others even manage to generate thousands of dollars.

In your opinion, is it worth to give a try? Because I'm afraid to have extra unnecessary expenses.
My husband works on a daily basis, and I'm a professional seamstress. My husband offered me a splendid idea to start my own thing, by selling the stuff I make. It's expected to be a comfortable home job, so I could look after the kids.

I do all sorts of creative cloth designs, for example dresses. I also go to other direction, such as something more simple, like blankets.
So the basic idea is to open an online shop for my inventory.

Have you had the same experience and what could you advice?

Web Hosting is a profitable business no doubt at all, but it depends how you start up your hosting journey and implement the ideas. It takes few months or a year to generate the revenue you are expecting. We have seen lot of hosting companies coming and out in just a few months because they could not survive in the market, you need to make plans and work on it day and night. There are several articles in the google you can refer how to grow your business online, but at the end it totally depends how much time you spend and work hard to achieve the goals.

If you are not interested in the hosting business, you should not start it or work on the field which is your best interest, as you have said you are working on the cloths and designing stuffs, if you are good in it. You should make your website and launch it on the internet and spreading with your close once and advertise / market in the local region first.

Indeed, the web hosting business is the most prominent business in today's date. For starting a web hosting company, firstly go for low-cost reseller hosting solutions as is the best pick for you as a newbie. And you can purchase that from any reliable and strongly reputed hosting provider around you and you're all set to kick start your own hosting company.

However, profit margins can be fairly low initially as because you need to establish yourself in the competitive market fulfilling customers' requirement. As the number of clients to your services increases, your profits too, increases.

Good luck with your hosting business and wish to see you at the top!

Cheers!

Not only handwork but the proper technical knowledge is very very important to run the web hosting business, do you know how to migrate websites, how to fix the websites errors? how websites are being designed? how to communicate with the web hosting customers?

Also if you go with the reseller first, ofcourse you will choose any cheap reseller provider company, but what about data safety as most of the cheap reseller companies dont have RAID 11 harddisk structure also they don't have any backup management so if any sudden server crash event come all the data will be lost.

And if you purchase any VPS or dedicated server then you must have a knowledge about how to handle the live server, you must have a linux knowledge, so this is not an easy task as none of the customer will hold on if the server goes down suddenly.

So as per my own experience I would suggest you, if you have a proper technical knowledge then go for it otherwise it will be a bad idea.

Have you had the same experience and what could you advice?

1. For starting a web hosting business, first you should learn the business model and study how things will work on internet.

2. Then learn how to attract customers ,offer them good services and manage them well in
in sales as well guide them in technical perspectives.

3. Basically you need to purchase a dedicated server or a VPS and a control panel [like cPanel,Plesk, webmin,Direct Admin] (which is optional to do) to manage your server as well as customer accounts from browser interface.

4. You should purchase any billing software to manage you customer accounts, invoices, bills.

Since server managing is a tedious part and will be difficult for you, as if you are not from a technical background.

-> If you don't want to spend money for VP or Dedicated server then you can start as a reseller first, which might be a more cheaper option,(depends on the hosting provider you are choosing) , so that your hosting provider can help you to manage thing up to some more extends, by that you can avoid unnecessary expenses and managing tensions.

If that is what you should wanted to go for then you can choose any one of the webhosting providers you know and purchase a suitable plan from them and host your website on their server, initially it wont cause much expenses, once the website, textile business grows and you have large number of visitors per day then you can purchase and move your website to an expensive managed VPS or dedicated server.
