I would like to buy a .hosting domain name for building a web hosting tutorial blog and I checked this domain extension at namesilo.com and name.com, both are different, Namesilo is offering $329 while Name.com is offering $599. This is making me confusing and this price is too high for me though :)

It can depend on many different factors: how big is the company, how many domains the registrar registers, how much effort it takes to register a domain. Some domain extensions need to be registered manually, then the price is higher than the automated way.

Indeed.
price gapping is quite common, and thus a need to find quickly best rates had lead to

Also try to lookup for coupons ( hey they exist ! )

Volume of acquisition, internal procedures and margins should explain why a coke costs X in one place, and Z in another ( by coke i meand the soda drink ).

The determining factors in the domain name cost may be the rarity of the name and the rarity of the domain zone. Also, the price depends on the fact whether a company itself is a registrar or it simply resells someone's domains. Especially when it comes to new gTLDs, prices can vary significantly, as the customer chooses a unique zone. There are some cases when registrars with a high customer base can afford to provide large discounts or loyalty programs usually it could be for the first year. If you contact the company directly with the wish to purchase a specific domain name, the registrar may be able to prepare an individual offer for you. In human communication, you can solve any question. Wish you every success!

Domain name pricing totally depends upon Domain seller company. If a company is well known and reputed then they will definitely charge a high price.

Domain name is something you can buy ans sell, its price is regulated not only by TLD authorities but also by the market itself, that's why price tags may differ from one registrar to another. Here's a comparison table for most TLDs, check it out to find the cheapest seller: https://tld-list.com/

It largely depends on the market you are in. Also when domain prices are set significantly lower than usual from other different registrars, then it is likely that the price is so for their marketing purpose only. Think of it this way for more clarification, if registrar wants the customer to pay less for the domain registration than other registrars, then there are two possibilities:
  • Firstly, it might be the registrar pays the more price for the registry and do business in the loss as a marketing purpose.
  • Or they've implemented the blue-ocean strategy of purchasing bulk services and lowering the price for their customers as the number grows
Hope you find it useful.
Still, there is something to add for the difference in price among several registrars. Feel free to reply below, I personally love to hear more from you guys and learn something new.
