.com vs .in - any differences?

Is there any effect of domain name extension (.com vs .in) on the search results? and what are the differences between them?

In my opinion, there is no effect on the search result. If you target globally, go with .com extension. If you target a specific region, go with ccTLD.

It is big difference I think
.com is for global and you can target audience at all countries.
.in is just for India and you can only target visitors at one country.

There is no difference in search results as it more depends on how good your SEO tools are on the website. However, when choosing between these two domains (.com or .in), I would go with .com always as it is more common and international.
The domain name can represent your sphere of business or market audience. I would recommend choosing .in only if your market audience is strictly in India.

There is a simple difference between .com and .in domain. When you want audience from across the globe, go for .com and if your target is region based, can go for .in domain i.e India based. .com domain involves a large amount of visitors than that of .in.

.com is most widely used extension and people usually remember a domain with a .com , when its not available you caan go for .in extension . There is no difference in terms of seo at all

More over .in is quite popular among the general audience as well in India , so go for it as a second option

Truth be told, I have tried both and there isn't much of a difference when it comes to either .com or .in when it comes to search results.

If you are searching for a brand and its a .in domain name then it takes the same time to show as a .com even if you are sitting in India or any other country. Personally I feel marketers do this to differentiate between the two when it comes to selling it to resellers and customers so that there is a recall in the mind while buying.

I purchased both of these domains from BigRock like a few years ago and I felt that even though I got it for a good deal for my client, it did the same job. So I helped him host his blog with a .IN since he was based in India and .COM for his small business website.

If you're planning to market locally, .IN is a good choice because it is treated by google as a country specific TLD. But if you want to market internationally, then .COM fits for it.

The .com is a universally accepted extension which can be used in all countries and all geographies and for all purposes.
The extension .in is typically meant for businesses and individuals in India.

However, this is not hard and fast and you can actually buy any extension and launch your business on it irrespective of the nature and geography.
