Although any site needs at least a minimum level of security, some types of sites need enhanced protection. For example, they can process bank card data or store personal information of users. What is the level of security required on your hosting?

I think Organization require powerful security strategy that can efficiently fight back. The level to revealing that set of skills is analytics that is enabled through machine learning. Large and midsize enterprises need to install security analysis tools, which lets them impend the attacks before it’s being launched.

Malware/virus protection
Protect your website from DDoS attacks
Install SSL
...etc

More secure methods applied, more better for your websites.

The level of security for a website is based on its operation era..so someone need to spend money/effort to secure it based on how important it is and what operation it is managing. The very basic level I would say SSL and website monitoring/scanning.

Why we need to spend money to make our server secure? you are talking about buying some services to enhance server security levels?

Yes...its about buying services... you can't build a good WAF or a good external DDoS protection or a website scanner yourself for a single website unless you get large revenue from your business and you have a good team. Please note I am not talking about a blog or a small shopping cart..its about enterprise hosting.
