Hello I am thinking to start my own blog wordpress. But the problem is I can't find a cheap web host. Most of the host I find online have very expensive renewal (e.g. $2/mon on first year then $8/mon on renewal.) I will only make 1 wordpress site, nothing too special I do not need large storage or ftp. Im not that tech savvy so I don't need those superb specs. I only want a website on wordpress where I can post txt and images on very low sizes. About the domain I prefer to buy at Namecheap so it's okay if the web host you will suggest won't have free domain. I am looking for as low as fixed $2/mon for 1 year. There are alot of $2 I found but the renewal is not $2 so I am looking for renewal price on that cost. Some of the web host I found are:

NameCheap EasyWP (but it has no ftp and cpanel)
Fastcomet *$2.95
Mochahost *2.48
Zoom hosting
Hostripples *$2/mon BUT you have to avail 3 years
Tsohost

You can check the marketplace at forumweb, there are some decent offers for the price range you are looking for.

Like mentioned above "wordpress hosting" in most cases is shared cpanel hosting with additional resources(CPU, Ram and I/O) and optimizations, however there can be exceptions like managed wordpress hosting. Otherwise a quality shared hosting plan with decent allocated resources will work equally good.
What really affects the performance of a wordpress site is the I/O, since they tend to be I/O heavy and most budget hosting plans are limited to 1 MB/s.

I am actually scared to try a cheap, not well known web hosts. Like what about for example, the web host I am using disappeared just like a bubble. What will happen to my wordpress site? Will it just disappeared like that.

Anyway, I really appreciate your replies, it is a great help for me who is only starting to blog. Those are very useful, Thank you very much.

Hi @NameGervin, Honestly you should stay away from those companies who offer you first year for a very low cost and then increase the price. This is not a transparent and sustainable model of providing web hosting services. Most of those end up providing low quality service or bad support. Just go compare few providers who offer reasonable priced plans, send them your questions and then choose one.

@HostColor Thank you for your useful and informative advise.

Okay so I decided to put more budget on hosting as I now gained more knowledge. I also compared different web host services and now I am choosing.

You could try simplesite dot com. They get to my mail talking about $1 web hosting for the first month. They have not stated their charge from the second month though. Wish you get to try them out.

You can go with a provider offering recurring offer on renewal. Many of them nowadays do offer the recurring discount for loyal customers.

What I'm currently using is Namecheap Shared hosting and only pay $24.88/year and I'm sure there are Promo Codes online that could bring that cost down. You can then install WordPress on your shared hosting plan as I currently have. You can then optimize it yourself (PHP Memory Limit, etc.)

Most web hosting companies that offer 'WordPress Hosting' will be expensive and won't let you use FTP because they optimize their server for WordPress and don't want you tampering with it.

I would advise you to choose month-to-month payment at first to see whether you’ll be satisfied with the services offered by the host which you’re about to choose. Personally, I prefer to buy hosting services at an affordable regular monthly price, instead of choosing services which offer discounts for the first year and then significantly increase their price. On forumweb.hosting you can find some very good and reliable hosts, and in fact, here are a few suggestions: https://forumweb.hosting/top-quality-best-web-hosting/

Namecheap is a good choice where FTP can be access by some plugin.
Uploading themes or plugin can be done by wordpress dashboard.

Thanks,
