Are there any websites do you prefer to use rather than Wordpress? Will you recommend other apps or sites that can help me to make a better blog website? What can you advice me in choosing the right web software in creating a highly functional website for my blogs or should I stick in using Wordpress?

You can also use blogger.
I would however recommend wordpress. It's so versatile, has a massive user base with lots of tutorials online, and lots of plugins to make your site do whatever you need.

Blogger is owned by Google. Its the main competitors to wordpress when it comes to blogs. I've used it in the past, didn't really like it.

You can create accounts with both of them and test it out, and see what you prefer.

Edit: to add to this, blogger is hosted by Google, and you can make a free account with, and forward your domain to it. Wordpress has similar and also a self hosted version which allows for far more control with what you do on it

Blogger for sure, you should use this platform beside Wordpress platform, it has many benefits because it is sponsored by Google.

What can you advice me in choosing the right web software in creating a highly functional website for my blogs or should I stick in using Wordpress?
For new Wordpress sites, you should start with a shared hosting is enough and when your website is grow with big traffic, it is time to think about a VPS or even bigger is a dedicated server.

The big thing to keep in mind is whatever platform you use, make sure you have portability of your content.

Some providers like Wix are 100% custom, so you can't 'move' your website or blog from them to another provider easily at all. Portability can be key esp with this day and age.

How can you say that it is the most essential part of the website? How does it help? Cheers!

Most people are limited in their technical knowledge of the back-end for how a website works. So let's say we take a wWx customer and they get fed up with Wix. They search and find a new hosting company and ask for their website to be moved from Wix -> new company. The new company is going to either tell them no, they can't do it because Wix is custom, or if they offer design services quote $500 -> $2000 to redesign the website in a standard format and pull the content from Wix.

It can be really easy to generate a lot of content on a website over time and you always want to be able to take that, and as much of the look/feel with you if you ever change your mind, provider goes out of business etc. So the more options/flexibility you start with, the less potential hidden expenses you'll have in the future.

Woah. Sounds interesting. You're right, I should set things up and list all the possible requirements in order to choose the right one. I should have a standards and requirements and the portability you are saying is such a good standard in order to choose the best site for my blogs. Wix is not a good choice because they are custom. Noted ;) Cheers!

@KnownHost-DanielP I used Wix, it was very slow and required to pay more things to upgrade websites or hosting there. It looks Blogger, I feel hard to edit things there and the best way to build a website is using Wordpress platform and put it on your own hosting. :)

Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad to here it from you, based on what I read on this forum; Wix is not a good choice in creating blogs because of its features and limitations. Make sure to choose a nice and efficient site to create a high quality sites; We should give Wordpress a try. Cheers!

I will always prefer Wordpress due to all the themes and things you can do with Wordpress websites, blogger i find is great if you monetize with Adsense. I find both great for Adsense only Blogger seems to appear faster in the rankings if you build a blogger blog. That may just be me, but I find that if i build a blog on Blogger it ranks faster.

It seems that Wordpress is still the best to use to create a highly functional website! I think it helps us to make a website more comfortable. Cheers!

WordPress is what everyone will prefer. If you want full control on your blog, go with WordPress only.
You may want to change any line of code to customize anything. Unlimited themes are there in the market to help you design your website. A number of plugins to add more functionalities to your WordPress blog.

I guess Wordpress is the best to use for blogs. I also tried it, and I am amazed how this Wordpress works and how it deals with the users. As of now, I can say that Wordpress works really fine with me and you're right! Cheers!

I agree with @vashishtha_serverguy, Wordpress is a great choice but I only was confused between choosing a Wordpress and a custom website system. While wordpress has more themes and plugins but to fit your requirements then you have to search and choose, then a custom site can make what you need without odd codes or functions like you use a WP plugin.

I am currently using blogger.com from google to publish and create my blog, it is user friendly easy to use and its free. I still don't have any negative experiences on using this website. I don't have an idea how Wordpress works but I think google is most reliable and easy to access than any other websites. Because here in Philippines most computer shop here or even PC is using google. In my own opinion there is a possibility that your blog will be easy to spread if most people in your country is using google search engine.

If you are using Blogger, are you planning to buy a domain and using it with your own domain name? I think that will be more professional and help you grow your site better. :)

Well I just wan't to make sure first that my blog will give me earnings before I start to pay something or buy a domain or even websites that I can host. Thanks for that advice maybe I'll think about it later on, because I am just making a foundation and still trying to grow little by little so I will use only free services for the meantime.

@albino This is a big mistake for almost people are wanting to earn more online but didn't want to spend money or invest nothing for websites that will help give them earn more from them. Don't go free services if you are still having money to invest and you believe in your plans are right and it will succeed if you try.

Fro example, I invested hundred of dollars to buy website themes, hosting services, domain names to build my websites around 5 or 6 years ago while they didn't earn anything at the first time but when they are grow, I could earn more. I don't mind spending more if I think my plans are right for investments.

Well that is a good idea also but tie up with risk and loss, how can I be sure that I can really earn if I purchase those web stuffs? Well my blog is to share my experience and to teach people basic things, I am doing this not to become famous or to earn money but because I like to share my opinion to others, maybe I can help them or they can relate to my situations. The earnings that I am talking about is from google adsense and it does not require you to have your personal domain as long as you have publish more content and your blog must be older than 6 months, so you can really earn without spending a single penny. This is only my vacant time hobby but not my career or source of income because I have a regular job already for 8 years.

Wordpress will be best to start as yuo have many resources and in each and every forum you will get help and it is desinged like that even a newbie can start working from the very first day and lot so tutorials are there based on wordpress. Just make sure you learn security aspects of the wordpress as you study and make sure your installation is secure and using latest plugin and themes.

I think you're right, Wordpress will be the best choice to have a good start. I can even learn more in Wordpress by just exploring things and I hope that I should learn more than that. @Nixtree What can you recommend to me for the next step? I mean, should I stay in using wordpress or I should go to a better one?

"Better" is each ones perception and I will say wordpress due to ease of use, more resources , more needed plugins availablity and many forums in which you can get help incase you arrive in any issues, support from most of the hosting companies for most of the issues

Once you are Ok with Wordpress, then you can try as a test for other software which will give a good comparison between both.

It depend on your needs. If you are looking for a CMS to create a blog, the most important feature will be the ability to write an article easily. And for me, WordPress isn't the best one for that. There are many other blogging platform, like Ghost if you want a self-hosted solution, or tumblr & blogger if you do not want to pay for web hosting.
But if you want to do more than a blog and if you are planning to add several other features, in this case, it will probably be easier to use WordPress due to the huge amount of plugins and themes available.

I heard of this platform (Ghost) but not sure it has many free & good plugins and themes to use like Wordpress. If yes, I would give it a try for any new sites.

There are only few themes listed on the official Ghost marketplace, but it's pretty easy to customize Ghost themes yourself.
About plugins, Ghost isn't the same than WordPress, plugins do not exist. Ghost already come with almost all features needed to write an article, and to publish it with all proper SEO options (title & description + rich content + AMP)

This sounds new to me, I thought Wordpress is the best one to use in creating blogs but you recommend some new site to explore/use. I should give it a try soon to test what it can give me or which one is better! Thanks. Cheers!

Seriously, I know there are other options, but I'd still recommend sticking with WordPress, simply because of its functionality. Haven't used Ghost, so I'll have to try that, but I have used Joomla and that was awful.

So I guess, I should definitely go for Wordpress because of its ease when using. I guess will be more comfortable to use it for my blogs. Thanks for the feedback! Cheers!

I agree about Joomla, and I will not even talk about my experience with other CMS like Drupal.

Anyway, Ghost isn't an "alternative" to WordPress, it's a powerful blogging platform and it wasn't build to be extended with plugins.
That's why, I really like to write a new article on my Ghost instance (without having to install a plugin to manage the SEO settings, another one to add a full visual editor before having to make my blog static with a caching system because loading speed isn't good enough etc..).

For any other usage (business website, personal website etc..), I use WordPress like the most part of other people.

@superman2727 : you can find an up-to-date list with all open-source blogging platform available on this Github Repository

Thanks for the link; I will make sure that I will browse for updated blogging platforms to find a reliable one! Thanks, Cheers!

WordPress is easy to use since it allows us as users to create sites quickly, easily, dynamically without the need to resort to third parties that may not meet our expectations. We as users can create our website from scratch by choosing the visual appearance being able to integrate in a continuous way the functional that we could need to add images, videos, texts in different ways, links, maps, videos, contact forms, links to social networks ie create a site under an updated web environment.

Another important aspect is the time since in about 5 minutes we can create our blog one of the reasons why WordPress is so successful, is that it has thousands of themes (themes) to choose from. You have all kinds of designs and styles at your fingertips.;););)
