What is the most important thing to look in a Web host ?

I am sure there are many things to look for but which ones should have priority over others ?

Is it speed , security, uptime ?

I agree with stew4 points. I would also check if the provider has any forum or knowledgebase with instructions, frequently asked questions or tutorials that would help with starting the service.

When it comes to Virtual Servers, there are many other things to consider, such as virtualization technology the design of the underlying infrastructure and more.
