Hi Guys,

I don't quite understand whats the pro and cons of this cdn and 10gbps port.

I calculated the 300tb on bunnycdn, it cost $1500. but with 10gbps from fdc dedicated, it cost $499 per month.

cdn will serve the videos to the closest location(Extremely fast) however 10gbps can still serve videos at good speed, just not as fast as a cdn, also able to serve more videos to more visitors concurrent ? Is this it ? Or ?

CDN provides a bit more than just speed, if you have 1 server hosting all your videos to stream from and the network becomes slow for any reason at FDC or (any other provider) then you have a single point of failure. A CDN mitigates this by spreading the load and network requirements.

You could setup your own mini CDN with 2 locations to get around the above example and may still work out cheaper. It all comes down to budget and what level of speed/reliability you really want for your site.

CDN will have multiple server scattered around the globe, and will essentially keep copies of the content on your website. When a visitor comes to your site, the CDN will deliver your website from the closest server to that user.
This means they don't get lag.

Imagine if your server is in the US. Your visitor is in Australia, when they visit your site, the data needs to travel all the way from US to Australia, which adds delay for the data to get there, regardless of how fast your connection is.
Whereas a CDN may have a server in Australia, which can deliver your site to the user in fraction of the time due to location.

This is how the big players like Netflix work. They have "mirrors" of their content scattered around the globe so they can deliver their content from a local server.
