$1 SSL certificate?

I am wondering if some providers here are offering $1 SSL certificate or give it for free on your hosting service? I am asking this because I think paid SSL services are better free ones. Any comments?

You cannot find your luck here I believe. I am just wondering what benefit you find in $1 / yr cert over a free one? There are many providers offering Positive SSL between $4 - $6 / year and that will be a good option for you. Otherwise use Let's Encrypt SSL certificate which is free and recognized by majority of the browsers. Also you can find some premium shared hosting offers with free SSL , but you should check with the prvoider first whether its let's encrypt SSL or signed by another CA.

Hello David, we have free SSL in our hosting. Paid or Free is same, different only in Level SSL, for example you do not found free SSL with Green status bar and full company verify.

The vast majority of our clients use free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates which we provide. There's a small number who still use normal paid ones but most have migrated to Let's Encrypt. Offering free SSL is a great selling point IMHO, no need to charge for them when we are actually getting them for free (excluding licensing fees for the cPanel plugin which are minimal).

Do not think paid SSL services are better than free one. Let's Encrypt provide the same encryption level than any paid certificates.

Paid and free SSL certificates like others mentioned above make no difference at all, unless we're talking about a greenbar SSL, where the cost is due to the admin work. For those types of certificates its required to submit documentation regarding the company.

From a technical standpoint the free LetsEncrypt certificates offered by most web hosts offer the same level of protection as any paid domain validated certificate, other than the fact that they come with no warranty. Of course like Hostbastic has mentioned if you require an extended validation (EV) or organisation validatation (OV) certificate to get the green bar with your company name these are paid and normally come with a higher price tag and a more stringent validation process.

For 99% of users and small businesses the LetsEncrypt certificates will suffice.

I have never used SSL certificates on my website, neither the free certificate nor paid certificate. Therefore, I don't know how free certificate compares with paid certificates. Some say Letsencrypt gives same level of security as the paid service. However,my hosting does not provide Letsencrypt support or service. In that case, how do I implement SSL certificate from Letsencrypt? At this time, I am considering a cheap SSl certificate because at least I will have someone to add SSL on my website.
