How to install Ubuntu desktop on Linux?

I have VPS Linux and I want to install an environment like Windows to install programs as Firefox, Chrome, Skype and work on it. I heard of Ubuntu desktop but I am not sure I can install it on Linux. Anyone can make me clear with your question? I am looking forward honest answers.

A Linux VPS is not just Linux, it means that it has a Linux based operating system like CentOS, Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.
Because Ubuntu is Linux based too maybe you have it already installed, who knows? :)
I think the easier way is to ask your hosting provider to install it for you and avoid complications.
