Anyone try Discourse?

It's free if you install on your vps.

I feel is smooth, more fast of normal forum platform..

Anyone test better?

I agree, Discourse is really modern, not really hard to deploy with docker, and is currently one of the best solution to build a modern community.
NodeBB is also a good alternative

"better" depend on usage.
For an old or classic forum, those CMS are not bad, but to build a modern community, I will never choose one of them.
And discourse is totally free, with thousands of extensions available, when Xenforo cost $140/year. For that price, you can buy a vps to host your discourse forum

Discourse is a good forum platform and its mentioned here.
https://forumweb.hosting/14683-vanilla-vs-discourse.html
but if you are looking for a better forum cms, I would suggest IPB, Xenforo or vBulletin.
are different type of forum. II use vbullettin since 2005 and i'm very bored to use, also in the last 3-4 years the company make a lot of changes and i dont like anymore. Infact a part of developer of vbulletin foundated Xenforo.
I think now the best platform paid to forum is xenforo.

But this is OT
