I want to start a simple forum on my blog, in a sub folder to support visitors there, I tried to search on Google and had many good reviews about Vanilla and Discourse but I need to hear your advice which forum software should I choose to start with?

I didn't cause for large communities discourse handle well. I hardly seen major communities using vanilla they use either discourse or xenforo. Depends how big is your community or user base you can choose.

I just started with mybb.

If I had to choose between Vanilla and Discourse I would choose Vanilla. Discourse doesn't have an email interface of a WYSIWYG editor built in or available with a plugin and Vanilla does.

When I was testing out Vanilla on a forum I created I just didn't like it much either and went with myBB.

A lot of people like Discourse so it probably will come down to a personal preference of what you like and need.

I'm not keen on either. They look very different to other popular software i.e., doesn't really look like forum software. I'd prefer the more classic forum look of vBulletin, XenForo, MyBB, SMF and the like.

Discourse is better and the best feature is its design, discourse is designed to aid in the creation of high quality online conversations, flat discussions with well implemented quoting systems, expandable/collapsible replies, infinite scroll, clean UI.
