.me domain vs .com?

Hi folks, I am in the process of building a new website and I checked .com domain extension but which I wanted there then it is taken. I am confused which domain to go for?
I tried to search with .me and it is still available. Should I go with this extension? What do you recommend for any available extensions? beside .com, .me is a good one to start a new website?

If your website relates to you personally then .ME is a good one. However if it relates to your general business or other specific market then .COM, .NET, .CO,...is a better choice.

I like hynds advise.If the business is about you, then .me is cool.If you want something with wider coverage I'll still advise you to use domain generating sites to tweak you word combination and get a brand able .com domain name.

When it comes to SEO and page ranking, domain extension does not matter. No matter what extension you use, your website is treated equally by search engines. Most people prefer dot come because it is the oldest domain extension and browsers use it by default. You don't have to enter dot com while you are checking a website. You can use dot come for every thing, however, some extensions are reserved for something. For example, dor me is more appropriate to your personal website or blog.

Extensions don't really matter as regards domain names, but people seem to be more comfortable with .com and .net sites as they are deemed to be more official.
.me is more suitable for blogs, resumes or personal sites.

I would say .me sounds more like a personal preference domain extension as opposed to .com which has multiple uses. Just so you know .com is the most widely used TLD worldwide.

.me is ok for a personal independent fashion designer, or graphic designer, photographer, etc...
.com has been always related to commerce, and if you have .com available, don't think twice. Grab both!

You didn't state the purpose for the website.For any purpose ,you consider the TRAFFIC from search engines.Google brings out .com in there first page so you choose based on the kind of traffic you need.
Many new website choose extensions according to there services like .bike,.homes,anyone that sees .me has the impression this is a website about you.

I wouldn't mind using a .me extension for my website as long as it sounds great. Lol.
I can think of different domain names using the .me extension. Not sure if these are taken or not but I do want these:
-roast.me
-cook.me
-read.me
-download.me
-try.me
-begoodto.me
-please.me
-massage.me
-pleasure.me
-youand.me

You can be creative with the .me extension. But then again, the only downside is that it wouldn't sound very professional. If you want a professional looking domain, just stick with .com. If .com is not available, then go with .net or .org. But if you don't mind it sounding a bit unprofessional, then stick with .me. Besides, some have said that it does not affect SEO whatsoever.

I personally feel that unless your domain name is really catchy (example: catch.me), using anything other than a .com can affect your website's traffic as some visitors may mistype your domain name.

I will prefer .com because it sound cool, .me on the other hand looks like your name is not original and you are copy of other .com site.

The suffix dot com is very popular and widely used than any other domain extension.
Almost all bloggers in my country prefer a .com domain name, the rate of those who make use of any other domain extension naming here is relatively small, less than 15%.
There was a day I was in your position, I put my domain name on a dot com hosting company site but it's not available. While it was available on all other domain extensions whereas the purpose of this site doesn't fit on all these other extensions.So I reasoned within me on what to do and I came up with the idea to make use of "domain naming tool" to revise my domain name, to come up with another similar name that best describes the service I want to render and also to best fit on a .com extension.
And guess what? It worked!
You can try out any "domain naming tool" to revise your domain name maybe it can fit on your desired .com extension.

The suffix .com is more professionally recognised. I think .me is okay if you are offering professional services alone. In the end, it depends on your website objectives.

As other have posted, a .com suffix is more professional and is better used when using it for a company with a well-made website. If you're promoting yourself (you are your own brand) a .me would definitely do the job, in fact it's a bit cheaper than a .com domain.

I would recommend other domains such as .tk if what you're looking for is something smaller, or just want to test a website for example

Dot com will always sound more professional. In my honest opinion, the only plausibles situations are: something with education (.edu) or non-govermental stuff (.org). You could use somthing life .me if it is a portf or something lilke that.

I'll go for .com if I were you. It is more popular than .me. I haven't seen much blogs with a .me domain and it may affect your number of audience. .net is also a great choice.

I would recommend for .ME if its for your personal website or blog. Use .COM if you are in a group or company, That's for my opinion though. You can still use .COM for personal websites, But using .ME in your own blog sounds unique if you ask me.

Tough question. I think I'll go for .com because of its general representation to the audience. There is nothing wrong with .me, it's just that the first thing that comes out of my mind is "yourself" and not everyone wants to hear your story unless you're popular.

I think in your case I should go for .com because people always searching for .com sites. even I am is searching a site with .com. So I suggest to pick .com because it is good for beginner site to get visitors or interested people with a type of site you want to build. I think even you,searching site with .com.
