Avoid all EIG brands for god sake. And there are certain cloud providers too, which you need to avoid if you are looking at cloud. Unfortunately we made a list updated one, but my links posted here are getting deleted by people even though they are general information and no way related to any commercial intent. So please google yourself. Hope this helps you.

Avoid Any EIG Brands. They were good. Infact they weren't good, only HostGator was Good until they were sold to EIG. ResellerClub is now under EIG, I don't know how they are performing now !

Pretty much EIG anything. Like Lars said, they purchase very decent hosts and outsource everything. Before you know it, you can't even get a ticket response.

There are some obvious choices, sure. But one consideration that goes unmentioned is the user's level of familiarity and comfort with a provider's platform/method of delivery/user-interface.

Personally speaking, I've tried a few data centers/server providers, in certain circumstances, who are considered to be solid brands, that I immediately cancelled the service. This wasn't a case of the provider not delivering on what was promised, but simply a distaste for the processes (provisioning, support, available upgrades, etc.) and interface.

Best to try new brands on a monthly basis, if at all possible, to avoid long commitments if the new service isn't what you hoped for/are accustomed to.

Normally the bigger the company the worse the service and support. Seems with most firms cut costs when they get big to maximize profits.
Stay away from GoDaddy, EIG and other big name brands, you are just a customer number to them.

Well, it looks like that most web host owners and representatives just hate EIG owned web hosts. I'd just add that some of those providers were overseers and have been misleading customers long before EIG came to acquire them.

Every end user might have different experience with different providers, you need to personally test them before selecting any company.

Because EIG slowly shifts everything to their servers ( to cut costs ), and based on online reviews their servers are slower and times out frequently with outages. Their support despite having live support and phone support seems to be poor too ( google them )

When choosing your host you can ask advice which are good or bad, but in the end you need to make your own decision. People tend to be subjective something that's good for someone might not be so good for you. What I'd advice when choosing host if you want to see how do they suite you and your need check if they have some sort of trial hosting, you can check their service quality yourself. Also make sure they offer money back guarantied.

In general, my recommendation is also to avoid EIG companies as they are considered to provide bad services in general. Mostly people complain about bad support and downtime. I haven't used theservices of such hosting companies, but on the basis of the big amount of negative comments that i have read, i would rather avoid them.

Generally, their servers are oversold/overloaded, some claim to have 30 second load times on Wordpress Site, and typical cookie cutter support responses that aren't helpful at all. Just google EIG host sucks ( substitute EIG host with Hostgator / bluehost or any EIG Host )

Just avoid EIG Group and the only reason to avoid is the worst support.

Below are some of the points which will clarify the company has the bad support -

1. You will not receive their replies in defined time frame though you have paid for it.
2. You will not get quality answer that is you will be asked to do so many things but no output.
3. Long ticket thread without resolution.
4. Closing chat though you are online and asking the questions.
5. Overloaded server
6. Always issue of site down
7. Costing for all small things like backup, migration, upgrading
