Have you ever wonder with all the computers, websites, and video games
What do you mean?
Can you share many details on these?

why you may not have as many sales as you would like in your hosting business.
More or less sales depend on how much traffic you are getting on your hosting site. That depends on marketing campaigns you are doing for it.
If you don't use marketing, SEO and promotions on forums or social media, no one knows about your websites, that will not help you to increase sales for your website.

Yes forums are best places for hosting business but you should not ignore social media and blog reviews
They are great sources for traffic that can convert visitors into sales. Of course is I don't encourage you buy social network ads because it is not effective and consuming more money.

I think forums are a dying 'culture'. Less and less people spend time on such platforms, they know only about facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat and similar. I remember how 'alive' was webhostingtalk some years ago, now seems like it's not even half as active as before. Other forums, not only hosting related, have experienced the same decline.

I don't think those have any bearing on web hosting sales. The number of businesses globally is growing exponentially, so regardless of others telling you the industry is saturated, or this or that > there are plenty of opportunities to sell your services. You just have to be aggressive on all marketing fronts.

That is what I mean there are more cell phones on earth than people, if you watch tv you see cities around the globe with high-rise buildings with hundred of thousands of apartments and people in them. There should be more sales at my company....However I am about to do a ad on this forum to help with sales...

I think you have under estimated how saturated this industry is, getting even a single customer is very hard when no one has ever heard of you or has reason to trust you.
90% of customers go to GoDaddy, Hostgator or the other big players. Just sitting back and relying on forums will not help, you get to actively market your business in any way you can which is not easy.

This is pretty spot on, you have to put a lot of work into marketing your company or offer something no one else does. Or, offer services so cheap that people have no reason not to try you...

I am not sure what you are referring to. If you are trying to say with all the products that require web hosting, why we have not seen an increase in sales? The reason is that there has been an increase in web hosting providers. You have to get creative to start increasing your sales or else you will continue to see decline and then closure. We have seen decline in sign ups from 125 clients to 91 clients:diablo: every 3 months. What we did to correct that was to revamp our services and offer more benefit than the other guys.

Let me get to this straight. I will tell you some thing very important. If you want to survive in this competitive market all you need is a regular working cost to run a business for that you need sales. The big question is how? its simple target on your local sales.Make as much as local sales
many don't target on local clients and run behind an international client when you start to generate money and know the value of it. Marketing is easy, trust me this always works.

I always believe in one thing making money is very simple. But HOW is the toughest part.

Sales depend on certain elements. First, your target demographics (your customers, where they come from, etc.). If you can ensure a steady flow of traffic to your web, then getting sales for your services or products won't be a big hassle. Also you need to consider what your customers are looking for. For example, in the gaming industry, if you're selling games that are targeted for only a small fraction of your user base, then it's highly unlikely for you to have any kind of profitable sales.

Next, is the quality of the actual services or products that are offered to a consumer base. This is one area where many fall short and fail to achieve required tragets. If you're promising on quality products but you cannot provide the same, then you're not going to have favorable sales. Also if your fall short of delivering the required quantity, or meeting the customer requirements, then also you cannot guarantee sales.

Your reach is the third area for determining how much sales are you going to have. If you're an international brand and offer quality products, and have best utilities for promoting your services and products, then you'll achieve higher sales. It is very important and requires a lot of effort from the two factors mentioned above.

As a user, I find that most potential clients are inclined to go with reputable companies. In this market, the competition is stiff. Offering low prices does not always mean you are able to get enough sales volume to breakeven.

I believe that proper marketing and promotion is required to help users receive newer companies. This is why stuff like reviews by Internet tech websites are important to assure potential clients that they would be getting some quality service. In order to do this marketing, you need to identify the target demographics and ensure a steady flow of traffic.

It's hard to go against the established giants in this tech industry but it's not totally impossible too. Balancing cost and quality is an important part to lead you to success. After that, you will need to introduce and reinforce your brand.

1) First get a good brandable domain for your website
2) Make a decent website with no errors
3) Make sure your website is fast and is SSL enabled
4) Offer all possible modes of payment
5) Be active in social media and forums
6) Post quality content in your company blog including tutorials
7) Spend a little on SEO (Be very careful with who you choose for SEO as most SEO companies creates spammy link and will ultimately get you blacklisted)
8) Spend some money in Facebook ads to get Facebook followers
9) Offer cheap but stable and reliable services initially, later on you may increase the price a little for new orders.
10) Try to be online as much as possible and provide quick ticket responses as it's very difficult for startups to have a 24x7 team
11) Don't rely completely on your team if you have one, keep watch on how they are handling sales queries and even support.
12) Make sure it is easy to find products and services on your website.
13) Don't spend crazy money on your website design initially, spend a little and get decent design
14) Make sure your website has unique content, not copied from another website
15) Try to get as many affiliates as possible.

We did all the above and we got over 1500 VPS Customers in first year of our company incorporation and 100+ web hosting customers and lots of dedicated server customers as well.

I hope it helps
