Well, I don't think Alexa ranking matters much for a website reputation. It checks traffic of only those system on which Alexa toolbar is installed. So, you shouldn't worry much if Alexa is showing low rank for your site.

Alexa rankings aren't as popular as Google PageRankings.. simply because not everyone has the Alexa tool bar installed. And.. think about mobile devices as well.
