On a previous post of mine I asked about Vestacp vs Cpanel and learned some of the differences. One was that Cpanel is a paid control panel. Now I am curious about 2 free control panels and their differences. I am especially interested in the differences for someone new to VPS setup.

So when comparing Vestacp vs Ajenti, what are the differences between these 2 free control panel options?

I'm gathering information for use on my first VPS which is soon to come if that makes any difference.

Without going too much into details, VestaCP is much more beginner-friendly compared to Ajenti. It has a better user-interface and it's made for beginners. Ajenti is more developer-friendly with much more options for configuring and maintaining your server, but it's not really beginner-friendly.

BTW, since you are looking at free options, have you looked at ISPConfig, Webmin, CentminMod and Floxlor?

Don't know if it would be of interest to you, but you can also check out EasyEngine.

What do you need out of a control panel? Setting up domains/FTP/emails? Those basic tasks can be done with any control panel, so you just need to look at their demos and get the one that looks the best to you.

Hello,

I would recommend cPanel due to its easy interface for clients.
Yes, it is paid, but it's very worth it at the end.
If you still want to go with vestapanel, I recommend finding tutorials online, or find someone with knowledge with the panel

As far as i know, Ajenti is completely built using Python, and some say (i've never tried it myself), that makes them much more lightweight & faster than other panels. I can believe that to some extent because multiple benchmark have proven that Python have better performance than PHP, although it still depends on the implementation.

No doubt Vestacp is a good control panel if you want to have a good free one.
I have never used Ajenti, just knowing it through this thread
Does Ajenti have similar function to host websites as Vestacp? did any one use it?

Hello Namerie,

Vestacp
and Ajenti are both web hosting control panels. They are both used to manage web hosting accounts and servers. However, there are some key differences between the two. Vestacp is open-source, while Ajenti is not. It means that anyone can view, edit and contribute to the Vestacp codebase, while only the Ajenti developers can do so for Ajenti.

Vestacp is also written in PHP, while Ajenti is written in Python. It may not be a significant difference for some users, but it may be for others. Finally, Vestacp offers a wide range of features for managing web hosting accounts and servers. Ajenti, on the other hand, provides a simpler interface with fewer features. Vestacp is an open-source hosting control panel that offers a simple and intuitive web interface for managing servers. Ajenti is also an open-source hosting control panel with a web-based interface, but it offers more advanced features than Vestacp.

Some of the key differences between Vestacp and Ajenti include:
  • Ajenti offers a more user-friendly interface than Vestacp
  • Ajenti provides more features and options than Vestacp
  • Vestacp is easier to install and configure than Ajenti
  • Ajenti supports a wider range of operating systems than Vestacp

Here are the main differences between Vestacp and Ajenti:
  1. Installation method Vestacp can be installed using a one-click installer, while Ajenti requires manual installation.
  2. Supported operating systems Vestacp supports a wider range of operating systems than Ajenti. Specifically, it supports CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, and RHEL. Ajenti only supports CentOS and Debian.
  3. The pricing model Vestacp is a free and open-source control panel, while Ajenti has a commercial license (although there is also a free version with limited features).
  4. The feature set Both Vestacp and Ajenti offer a wide range of features for managing your server.

Ultimately, Vestacp offers a wide range of features for managing web hosting accounts and servers. On the other hand, Ajenti focuses on providing a simpler interface with fewer features.

Thus, I hope the above information helps you to understand the differences between Vestacp and Ajenti web hosting control panels.

Vestacp and Ajenti are both open-source control panels for web server administration. However, there are some key differences between the two:

Vestacp:
Comprehensive features: Vestacp provides a wide range of features for server management, including website management, email management, database management, and more.
User-friendly interface: Vestacp has a user-friendly interface that is designed to be easy to use, even for those new to server administration.
Built-in security: Vestacp includes several security features, such as firewall protection and SSL certificates, to keep your server and websites secure.

Ajenti:
Lightweight and fast: Ajenti is designed to be a lightweight and fast control panel, making it a good choice for those who want to save resources on their VPS.
Customizable: Ajenti provides a flexible and customizable platform that can be easily adapted to suit your specific needs.
Good for experienced users: Ajenti is better suited for experienced users who are comfortable with manual configurations, as it has a steeper learning curve and may not have as many user-friendly features as Vestacp.
In conclusion, both Vestacp and Ajenti have their pros and cons, and the best choice for you will depend on your specific needs and experience level. If you are a beginner and want a control panel with a user-friendly interface and comprehensive features, Vestacp may be the better choice for you. If you are an experienced user and want a lightweight and customizable control panel, Ajenti may be a better option.

Hope it helps!
