For those who make mock-up websites for clients, what platform do you find best to do this? and how to secure sites or your hosting in the case everyone can login as administrator and having full permissions on your demo sites?

I think a bit more information is in order to answer this one. What kind of websites are they? Has the client paid up front? Are we worried about securing html and style sheets?

Because every project needs a prototype first to check the feasiblity and performance plans thats why you need to make sure that the demo would always depict the final product.

I have some clients who are web designers and they mostly choose a a separate development VPS and configure the firewall to only allow themselves and their clients access they use some domain names they have for development purposes to provide to the client so they can demo and only access only that cPanel account if they need access to the account.

This method provides two layers of security and keeps out any unwanted Google spider bots.

For example designersdevdomain.com on server dev.company.com
When the site is ready to go live they simply transfer it over to their hosting server under the correct domain name.
