Advantages of Windows Web Hosting?

Most of the time I have used shared and VPS hosting base on Linux OS, I didn't have a change to use windows hosting, I want to know what are the advantages of Windows VPS hosting? it can run PHP sites and give me any benefits from this type of hosting.

The advantages of Windows Web Hosting :
- it's more expensive
- it require more resources
- it's slower than linux
- it require to reboot after an update

If you don't need to run some asp scripts, there is no reason to use a Windows Hosting.

There is no much difference between both other than running ASP scripts and the main thing is the choice and comfort of the customer.

VirtuBox really hit the nail on the head with this one. Linux is going to be your best friend unless you have a specific need for Windows.

I just want to agree with everyone else here. If you can avoid using Windows in any environment I would highly suggest it. Linux was built as a low overhead OS, the exact opposite of anything Microsoft.

Windows hosting is useful for hosting website created in .net framework.
Windows hosting permits SQL database usage.
Windows servers have a better GUI.
Windows servers have better server specification.
Windows hosting is better for web design program, Microsoft Front Page.

On the vps side Windows is more familiar with its desktop and gui. For either situation Windows supports asp.net, mvc, Visual Basic, C# which Linux does not; but it also supports php. It supports mssql which Linux does not; but it also supports mysql. Thus Windows is more versatile. The stuff about Linux being more secure or faster or more stable is nonsense.

However, if you are using php and mysql go with Linux. Its more popular for basic web hosting and hence there is more design and development assistance available for that platform. But its no accident that over 85% of on-premise servers are Windows servers

Hi,

If you want to host games like rsps then windows Hosting is recommended.

Also, if you want to run ASP.NET or java files, you can use windows, else go with Linux. Its always best option.
