I am asking your thoughts with security point of view.. there is a possibility access the files or other sites on a same shared server? in that case is it safe to host on shared hosting? and how to choose a shared hosting for more secure?

Its secure for the most part I mean it depends on exactly what your asking. You can always enable additional security features of your own in your cPanel but as for the WHM its secure. No one can really tell you how to choose a shared hosting provider its merely personal preference.

I guess you are referring to a hack case i'e when an account is hacked , he might be able to get access to other accounts files. If you are using pure DSO php handler, then this is a possiblity.

I always suggest to use suphp / factcgi / Mod_ruid php handlers and if you are capable of paying a montly cost, then you can get Cloudlinux installed and setup CAGEFS for all users. Thats why cloudlinux is getting more popularity on shared servers which can be more secure and also can limit resources as well

CloudLinux/CageFS can definitely help with OP's question. CL/CageFS is well worth the extra cost.

There is no such thing as 100% secure anything. All it takes is for a root password to be leaked hacked stolen etc. and nothing n a server is secure anymore. So if you are worried about your site get into hacked you will need to get your own server and secure it yourself. Shared hosting is secure but there are things as others have suggested to make it more secure.

Cloud Linux is a great OS for getting closer to a secure system.

I agree with the above post, nothing is 100% secure. Depending on your web hosting provider your shared hosting account should be secured, but you could always ask what type of security settings and configurations your provider has set for the shared hosting account.

Honestly! I would not recommend any one to use shared hosting as any webbsite on the stack is infected by any mean your website will also bear the effects of it.

I would never use shared hosting again. I've had many sites hacked over the years on shared hosting due to the server being compromised. For the price of a VPS it doesn't make much sense to use shared hosting any-more.

Exactly but more people could not know this and they are still using shared hosting and believe that they are secured.
VPS is always better but it also needs to be configurated the best to become a secured hosting.

I don't know exactly how secure any given shared hosting service can be but I do know that some shared hosting providers have more security features in place than others do. One might be real secure and another might be very weak.

A VPS might have some big security issues as well, especially if the person who set it up didn't take the proper precautions.

Exactly.

Just because it is a VPS, does not mean it is secure. A server is only as secure as you make it!

Hosting security really comes down to two things.

1. Server Security
Regardless of if the server is a shared hosting server or a VPS, correct security policy's, operating system updates and firewall rules are essential. A server is only secure as the provider makes it.

2. user/account security
Most hosting providers have a password policy to prevent customers from using dumb passwords such as " orange " which will easily be brute forced if the provider does not have a strong firewall policy. Most accounts are compromised on the application level a WordPress installation that is vulnerable for example. Many bots search the internet daily looking for outdated WordPress installations that are vulnerable to known exploits.
