Simply the brand name makes the difference, all of these credit cards serve the same purpose for funds transfer.
Limits of cards are the differences, these limits depend on your business / individual income and accordingly you get the credit cards and limits allotted.
You may use any of the cards which you feel so.

Use something that is going to accept any form of payment, bank transfer, various cards; Mastercard, Visa etc. In my opinion the most popular are:

PayPal - one of the simplest and quickest ways for your customers to pay.
2CheckOut - provides a secure hosted checkout process so you can accept payments without any of the hassles of PCI Compliance.
Skrill - accepted in nearly 200 countries and 40 currencies.

Thanks for sharing such useful info, I have not used 2CheckOut or Skrill but I am using Mastercard, Visa or Paypal to buy and sell products online.
Is 2CheckOut or Skrill better than Paypal?

I think both of you were so concerned with increasing you post count for the day that you failed to read the question. The OP didn't mention payment processors. He is talking about the different between credit cards. I think @forumrating hit the nail on the head. More or less it depends on limits and the agreements your bank has with each provider.

I'm also using the two that you mentioned, the master card and the visa card. They are good for online shopping purposes, fund transfers, and have a secure interface for online transactions. As one member has also pointed out that there's no relative difference between the said modes of payments as the mode of fund transfers remains the same in all of them. And the difference actually lies on the limits of transaction amount or and the total no. of actual transactions which will vary from a card to a card, or an individual to a business. Also there's this difference in the facilities they provide with the card, and the interest rates or other banking charges that are incurred on them.

Discover is mostly used in United states and is accepted whenever there is a Union Pay and I think not all countries accepts Union Pay so Discover is not good if you always travel around the world. Master Card, Visa and American Express are actually widespread around the world. I think Diner's Club is mostly use in traveling and online shopping.

It depends. Some places online still do not take Discover or American Express cards. Most major retailers do. Online and offline. But if you are on smaller sites and find an item you want to buy like an old book, comic or classic movie or something. Those smaller vendors mostly stick with Visa or Mastercard. However they also most of the time offer a paypal option so you can always go that route.
