Is email hosting simply managing your incoming as well as outgoing emails on your hosting or does it have other tasks? can I use a shared/dedicated as a mail server?
This also includes providing webmail interface as well as storing, managing, securing email accounts, and related services? I need someone explain me what email hosting is?

It's exactly the same as a web hosting package apart from you just get inbound/outbound email. If you looking for a email hosting solution I would suggest you get a VPS either with a control panel or install a web based front end for browser access.

There are self-hosted open-source mail server available :

Mail-in-a-Box : my favorite one, secure, ready for production, easy to install and with all email settings available like DKIM, DMARC, TLS etc ...

Modoboa : To manage several users, most advanced than mail-in-a-box but less user friendly

Poste.io : Awesome mail server running on docker.

MailCow : a good alternative to Mail-in-a-Box

Hello,

Mails are very important and when those are business mails , you must need proper uptime and backup system So that you will not miss any single mail. Thats why some provider keep email hosting separate. Incase anything happen to shared server, client email will keep working and all data will remain safe. That is the main concept of giving email hosting to clients.

It is possible to keep your webstie hosting and email hosting separate . Which is best way to keep all emails safe.

Email hosting is a Internet hosting service which rents out and operates email servers. These services are usually premium services which are different from the common free webmail sites such as Yahoo and Google. These hosting providers are for more demanding users like high-email-traffic and small or medium-sized businesses or companies that want to have their own domain name in order to differentiate them more.

Email hosts implements email servers to send, receive, accept, and store email for other organizations or end users, on their behalf. Besides the basics an email host will provide:

spam filtering
calendar sharing
contact sharing
archiving (to meet regulatory requirements)
sync with all devices
drive space
and more

If you look at standard e-mail hosting - This will be an account on a server that gives you 0 webspace, but you can use their email services for incoming and outgoing mail as well as possibly storing mail on the server with some space included.

If you wanted a reliabel and good E-mail system you could look at Microsoft Hosted Exchange and Office 365 which can be hosted over many data centres. You could also look at Gmail Apps. With these providers you will be charged per mailbox with a limit on how much each mailbox can hold.

Email Hosting works using POP3 or IMAP which means all of your email, contacts and data may not be synchronised across all your devices depending on the protocol you choose. Email hosting plan will make sure that online business communication is carried out seamlessly via emails.

Yes you are right, Email hosting provide a interface to the end user to manage his/her incoming and outgoing emails as well the provide storage etc. Also email hositng is basically use for marketing purpose like advertisement campaign, email marketing etc. There are plenty of email hosting service in the market which you can be use for personal use or business use, such as google mail service for business. which provide very good service for a business directly delilver to INBOX. There are some other open source/free email services such as zimbra mail service which you can host on your vps and it will be yours. I have used zimbra couple of times in the past its worked for me very well. As a Hosting Provider you can also start email services with zimbra and whmcs zimbra module. which is very easy to setup as well. :)

Email hosting on-like Web hosting give more preference on emails.
Your server is first of all configured to handle email tasks; inbound/outbound mails, spam filters, calendars, schedulers auto-responds and forwarders.

The difference between email hosting and emails provided by your regular hosting account is that, you get optimized email features to make your email experience easier.

Email Hosting is hosting email accounts under your domain in an mail server. For hosting an email accounts, you just need to update your domain's MX records to mail server.

Many hosting panels like cpanel comes with mail server(exim). Exchange server is an example for mail server.

For example, If you are hosting your email account in google, you need to update the MX records to gmail default MX records.
