MC (Midnight Commander) File Manager software is similar to Norton Commander software based MS DOS (or Total Commander on the Win). MC has a graphical interface instead of the command interface, you can perform some tasks with more intuitive.

1/ Install Midnight Commander

Using the following command

Code:
yum install mc

2/ How to use

Type the command

Code:
mc
to run the program.

Install-GNU-Midnight-Commander2.jpg

You will see a blue window pop-ups on your screen, it has two windows left and right, you can use the mouse to double click on the folder want to open, right click to select. Below you will find commands like F1 (help), F2 (menu) F3 (view) F4 (edit) ... F10 (quit)

Try getting used to, copy the folder in the VPS by selecting one item left (can select multiple items by right clicking on the insert button or keyboard). After selecting press F5 to copy to the right.

This is very useful, for example you can use it to copy a website on same VPS to another folder instead of download and reupload to the VPS.

I used NC on MS DOS and with such tool like Midnight Commander I think it is very convenient to manage files and folders with a friendly UI than typing commands

Can this tool compare with WinSCP or its better?

I install this tool on my vps, it is more useful to use instead of typing commands.
In my personal opinion, it is better WinSCP because commands directly run on ssh and it executes faster.
