I wasn't fortunate enough to obtain the owned license, however, I fully agree that WHMCS is the clear leader in Billing and Support software for web hosts. It's almost to the point where you never need to login to the WHM or SolusVM servers to fix client support issues. It can mostly be handled through the WHMCS API.

To me ClienExec is an excellent choice and also cheaper than WHMCS. It does everything you need with a regular hosting website and also has a very good support. I don't seem to have any reason for going towards WHMCS when CE offers all of it at a more better price.

The WHMCS goes down to $7.20 for bulk licenses where as CE can go up to 3$, that is why the hosting companies more tend to sell CE rather WHMCS. What provisioning plugins are you referring to. CE can support CPanel, SolusVM and all other popular panels which accounts to 90% of the hosting industry.

I've been using ClientExec for 7 years now and am not looking back. I have experience with WHMCS and it is a very good billing system too, but they just changed their subscription to based on how many customers you have.

I used HostBill but now I heard more good feedback about WHMCS and going to change to it.

I've used ClientExec, WHMCS and HostBill.

I use HostBill because it meets all my businesses needs. I've owned multiple WHMCS licenses over the years and it comes in a close second. I would rank ClientExec third but even at 3rd it is a mature and well developed product and works very well...it's just not my preference.

I have an owned CE license that I've been trying to sell for months now but so far I've been unsuccessful in finding a buyer which makes me think CE is not very well known as it once was, especially back when ModernBill was around.

I have to say that while I have been a supporter of WHMCS for the longest time, in many ways I think they are moving in the WRONG direction. Over the last year, they have become more expensive and their support quality has gone down hill. Often they release large updates with little significant editting to the backend, but masked rather insignificant updates with lots of UI improvements/changes to give the illusion they are doing great things.

As of now, I am starting to gravitate towards Blesta, particularly because of the solid and growing community. With this being said, I still think that WHMCS is the best option for most people, largely due to the tight integration with cPanel and numerous developers out there.

I still use WHMCS billing, not thought to replace the WHMCS billing even though the price will continue to rise.

Given the many client made me become complicated to move billing to other types of billing.

Hi all,

I have created this question to see which is the best and your favorite billing script for your web hosting company?

I knew some as following

WHMCS
HostBill
ClientExec
WHSuite

What are your choices? and why?
According to our experience, WHMCS is the best billing software for web hosting companies. We have been using WHMCS since 2012 and never face any major issue yet, WHMCS is very stable and support is very good but little slow but its okay if you are looking for long term relationship with the software.

BoxBilling should be added to the list, even though might not be the most popular.

I've been lucky to use quite a few Billing Systems including WHMCS, Ubersmit, HostBill, ClientExec, Blesta and BoxBilling. Other than BoxBilling every other system is Paid.

Depending upon our requirements we ended up using a different Billing System for our sole purpose.
WHMCS is the best when you plan to use it for Hosting related services ( Shared, Reseller, VPS's, Domains and even Email Hosting )
HostBill we ended up using this mainly because WHMCS has this floating point limitation related to its product prices which weren't letting us set the hourly rates for our Cloud Instances ( we used OnApp for this ). HostBill has a fairly better integration for OnApp.
Ubersmith man oh man where do I even start. This offers one of the most flexible API integration than any of the other mentioned billing systems. Secondly, this is mainly for companies who own their own Hardware and need to monitor, manage and keep a track on their Inventory.

ClientExec, Blesta, and BoxBilling are decent billing systems which offer out of the box Payment Gateway integrations, Support System and an Ecommerce Gateway with a clean UI.

WHMCS is by far the best billing system for a hosting company. We've used it for Hosting, VPS's and Dedicated Servers.

whmcs and amember for me. using both and both have their own pros and cons

It depends on the type of business your site is in too. ie. whmcs would be perfect for hosting sites and amember is useless here.

Hello Mihai,

I personally prefer WHMCS as most major software distributors have a plugin or addon for WHMCS. Apart from this, whmcs has a familiar interface for web masters and hosting customers alike, although theming Is rather complex and often very expensive.

The major downside to WHMCS is the new pricing structure, which makes very little sense and is built to maker them more profit, as they have more than enough to operate regardless. Just my opinion though that it is getting expensive for small providers, which appears to be the new 'target market'
