I had been using WHOIS privacy protection for my domains for a long time. However, this year, when I was renewing my domains, I did not renew WHOIS privacy protection. I will closely monitor the effect on my website and domains. If there is no difference I will continue not to use WHOIS privacy protection.

Protect Your Email Address. When you use private domain registration, your registrar typically creates an alias or unique email address that is used in place of your own within the WHOIS database

I like this feature on domain registrars but I only use it when it is low price or free. On Godaddy, you might pay some dollars for this service.

Everyone must use Whois privacy protection.
WHOIS protection helps you to hide your identity and avoid frauds and mail spam.

Whois privacy is to hide your contact details from public eye normally email mining services uses whois data to get contact emails and send them marketing emails which can be avoided by whois privacy. Still it's not a compulsion if you do not want to use doesn't effect on your domain.

I use it Whois Privacy all the time for all my sites. Too many spam emails, thankful I’m using it now!

I'm getting enough spam calls and emails as it is. I cant imagine adding to it by not using whois privacy protection.

it is your choice to use this service buy there are most of website which are not using this option. and there is not any security issue if you are locking it.

Whois is the largest platform to find details about website. so not issue

I love that most hosting/domain providers now offer this for free. Actually, I believe all provide this for free because of GDPR right? It's a good service and helps to keep your info private

It can be difficult to navigate with some registrars...I've noticed a lot more issues on behalf of clients since recent changes to Whois and GDPR. It's nice not to get spams, but seems like some registrars can trap you if you want to transfer.

To be honest, in my past seven+ years' experience of buying and selling domain names, I personally have never preferred to use whois privacy protection to any of my domain though it minimizes spam, protects personal information, prevents unsolicited marketing outreach and protects against domain name hijacking. However, in some of the client's case, I've as they're too cautious for avoiding spam and keeping their personal contact information too private. However, this doesn't necessarily mean your website, too needs to be private. It largely depends on the reason behind the information that you want to reveal or disclose. But consider the scenario this way if you are a vendor selling items and your prospects wants to know something about you for the confidentiality purpose only and they do a WHOis and they wonder why you have to hide it. Have you imagined what impression you would have left to the particular prospects?

Also I can relate to the sad part faced by many domain owners of getting sales call all day which is very annoying! Also, don't get wrong, if you get domain privacy protection for free you can use but kindly consider the consequences it might result before making any decision.

Hope it helps!
