In order to better organize a website I was thinking of splitting the website over subdomains, so each subdomain has its own cms and database, like:

blog.xxxxxx
videos.XXXXXX
pictures.XXXXXXX
news.XXXXXX

Is there any negative or positive SEO impact by doing this?

There is no negative but its a ton of a work. As, search engines will consider them as separate domains and you will have to do the link building separately to get them ranked.

Google treats sub-domains as separate sites. Therefore, they'll get you in trouble. A sub-domain only splits your efforts, trust gets you indexed, and relevancy get you ranked.
