A lot of threads I am seeing here more people are inclined to creating and maintaining their own blogs and websites, I'm a bit curious, is there anybody here working full-time on his/her own blog or site? or just part time? I'd most definitely want to work full time on my blogs but the current revenue that I get from them are not stable. What's it like working full-time on your own site?

If you get enough revenue to live in 3 - 6 months period, you can switch to full time and increase traffic to get more. If it is not stable, I recommend to stay on part time.

Started in 98 and went full time in 99. Been full time since. Well, in between there was a time I got slapped by the search engines hard, got burnt out and took a job for about 8 months. Still had my sites, just didn't work on them as much. Though working a job again reminded me why i started my own business.

Full time is awesome, but it has it's days. If your full time your probably dependent on the income. So it can put on some pressure. Plus it's very different working a job compared to working for yourself. Working a job you have to go to work to get your check and get paid, with your own business it's just not the same. You'd think it would, but it's not.

But the obvious... working full time can give you freedom. You usually will work alot (often more than a job), but you can do it on your own schedule. Depends slightly on what you're doing.

With the freedom I didn't have to "work" holidays, didn't miss family events, didn't have to work weekends.

And it's nice not to have a "boss". For me, I hated going to "work", hated it with a passion, so that was the big thing that drove me.

Also, I have always had multiple sites, never wanted to rely on just one source of income, just in case.

Great post!

I work on web hosting full-time and would like to have more time to write content on my blogs, though I'm too busy taking part in forums. Maybe soon.

I work online full time, but not just with my sites. I also write content on fiverr and have a translation business. I love writing so writing articles for customers is awesome but I hate translating!

Can't wait to go full time with just writing, even if it is for customers along with my own sites!

I am working full-time on mine, even thus I do not see it as a blog, but rather a news source site.

How is it? Well, for me it allows me to establish my own time, have a flexible schedule and work less mostly because the social promotion, for instance, its automated so I don't necessarily need to be around the desk all the time sharing content online, it does it for me. It all depends of the way you have your site setup and the way you keep your things organized. Then again, it wasn't always this way, now it is because it is heading 6 years since I began with it, and it has a strong reputation as well as followers. Then again, the content published is not entirely compiled on other sites of the genre in the way it is on mine, as it approaches topics that often you see online, but split between 3 or 5 different sites instead of having it centralized just in one.

I'm trying to build my site to someday truly work on it full-time. I know it can be even more difficult to be on your own than having a job, but it's a nice challenge!

yeah you need to prepare enough knowledge to work full time online and earn good money from it.

Writing fresh content is always easier and faster than translating some articles in different languages.

My online work is full time but I don't dedicate all my time to my websites and blogs. Lately they have been suffering because I have been busy doing many other things that are taking away from the time I used to spend on them.

I do however enjoy everything I do and it's nice because there is such a variety of tasks that I need to do, so boredom is never a factor.

I would love to be able to dedicate more time to my websites and blogs but for now they are just part time.

I have three websites and six blogs, and I am mostly doing full time on them. Each of them are assigned time and effort, and money. I don't do all of them in a single day, that would be quite exhausting. So I do blogs on weekends. Because I have plenty of time during weekends. Websites are assigned the weekdays, except Thursdays which are the work break days. It's always wise to divide your time and effort on your blogs or websites rather than going on all of them full on. That would be fruitless and tiresome.

I have 1 website right now and its a hobby for me and not a job. I am not opposed to becoming a full time job, but I would much rather keep it a hobby so that I can spend my time with my wife and friends and family. I wouldn't want to be tied to the computer 24/7. I had enough of that when I was a heavy gamer.

Leaving your 9-5job and moving full time to your blog business simply means you now take the full responsibility of every of the outcome. You can take this action only if you know the blog is already generating enough revenue for you.And it's not advisable to work on one blog. As for me, I don't depend on one blog or a single online business stream because many things can go wrong. For example, today big search engine like Google is changing their terms almost every day, Google delete one's adsense account, hackers working daily, so if one is affected by any reason then you can easily have something to fall back to.

I am a full time writer, however, I am not working full time on my blog. My blogs do not earn me good money. I published my blog about two years ago, however, they are still under construction. If I spend more time on my blog, I should be already earning good money. However, I am driven by money and I cannot wait for money to come in the future, instead I work today to earn money today.

I work on my blog part-time. I would like to work on it full-time but I haven't been able to fully monetize it yet. What I have learned about making money online and in life is that you have to have multiple income streams. As I continue to improve on my blog in terms of content and design, I also continue to seek ways to attract traffic.

I also work on other freelance projects online writing and transcribing. I plan to continue the writing because I love to write and make it one of my streams of earning. I also plan to take a course on how to fully monetize my blog. Fingers crossed this may be the breakthrough I need to work on my blog full-time.

During my free time and after work I'm working in my blog or site. but most of the time I work during my leisure hours because I have time to think and express what I'm going to do in my blog and site.

It is always preferred to work full time if you want the good result for the website. The web traffic will increase when you will work full time as you are going to make the site or your blog more interesting by continuous working. You can perform the digital marketing, social media marketing and other type of promotions continuously if you will have the full time work.

You can put quality contents on the blog everyday and as it is going to update everyday the search engine will index your website fast. Because updated sites are preferred by the search engine.

As a result, more revenue will be generated on the website.
