I was wondering if you guys have ever bought likes or followers for your facebook/twitter accounts for business or personal purpose? For me, I bought 5000 likes for a Facebook fanpage with $10 in the past but I have not done it again. what about you? Buying likes or followers worth it?

Be careful buying likes and followers, as it's against the TOS for use of the social sites. Getting too many, too quickly can also get your accounts suspended. It doesn't always happen, but I know people that have had that happen.

Buying followers would basically be pointless since most of them will be bots/automated followers. What would the point be to buy followers that would never be interested in what you are selling/promoting/marketing/etc. Bloated numbers with fake followers would be bad for an account and people would dismiss you as a spammer many times.

It's pointless buying 000's of followers/likes/fans as they will ALL be by bot created accounts and wont provide any interaction at all on your posts.

Anyone that says they are selling REAL likes/fans/followers etc is a liar. Especially when they are selling them cheap!

There are some services out there that do provide real fans/likes etc but they take control of your page and do real promotion of it (SMO/SMN) and that's not exactly "cheap".

The only time you might do it is as Lex says, just to give the impression that you already have some established business which in turn gets you real followers/likes/fans etc.

But let's be honest, if your business model is that good, you wouldn't need to do that anyway.

Harry, honestly do not listen to anyone that says buying twitter/facebook followers will hurt your business. If you don't know what you are doing or who youre buying from then sure. Message the seller (that has all good reviews) and ask them for examples of their followers.

We run split test campaigns all of the time. One of the things we tested was how a profile with minimal followers/likes performed against a profile inflated with 10k followers in ads, promoted tweets, and organic traffic.

The inflated profile performed better everytime, receiving a lower cost per follow/like than the profile with a small following.

Inflating a profile is more for the look, so that you obtain real followers. No one is going to want to follow someone with 400 followers. Yet over 10k followers and I get a 60-70% follow back rate when running bots, FL, or ad campaigns.

If you mix the white hat with the black hat it works. I've been doing it for 3 years now with no problems and happy clients. But I'm up front with my clients and explain to them the results and show examples of those results. Just an FYI for anyone that thinks of incorporating this in a social media strategy for clients.

For instance HR YouTube views are kickin' arse right now. I buy 10k YT views and then run TrueView campaigns to mask the fake views. Or thats the assumption and it seems to be working.

You just have to be smart about what you're doing. Stay in IM a while. Try things if you're unsure. How hard is it to create a social profile? Not hard at all. Test services and results. If you don't have money to test with, just forget about IM for now and build up a savings account that you can utilize to invest into trial and error.

EVERYTIME ... I dont go and buy them from fiverr or something, I just target 3rd tier users to get my numbers up. Followers and likes are a social signal that can be used to develop trust. The more trust you can develop, the greater chance you have of converting ( what every a conversion may look like for you. - an opt-in, buying something, clicking over to your site )

When you think about who would you buy from? a person with 5 followers or 1000... and really, the person that is going to buy is not really going to see if your followers are real... who does that really?

Run a boosted ad with cute kitties or something, get your numbers up.. then post / share a bunch of targeted content filling in your timeline a bit, and then start boosting content to get more active tier 1 users.

Ive never done this. It seems unnatural and I think it could be more detrimental to your sites reputations
That is true although I will say your view is quite a narrow one though. As stated in this thread, there are many big social media people today and famous people that have done it and admitted to doing it. From big celebs to world leaders. So it hasn't damaged their reputation, and I can't really see a time where it might unless one of your "potential buyers" was to do some homework into you and see a few eggs on your twitter followers list and then decide not to purchase because they think all your other 500k followers are eggs too. I guess that could happen but don't ever hear of it?

I have not ever bought followers but got some thousands of likes for my fan page too.

It doesn't have any influences when buying likes or followers, but if possible, you should give a try with Facebook ads which can give you real likes.

I would never recommend to buy facebook likes or followers because most of them are from the fake accounts. Try to get natural likes and followers.

You have to be careful when buying Facebook likes or followers, as some of them can be fake. It is good to read reviews and testimonials to see the reputation the service or company has.

I really dont understand the logic here.. WHY? Why would you "buy" likes and or followers outside of facebook? Just boost an ad within facebook for $5.00 and resolve all the stress and confusion of if you will get caught or are they fake or what ever...

Those followers that you have out there, are they real accounts? I was just curious why would you buy followers if you can actually get them by posting quality content?

Personally, I never found any particular interest in buying either followers or Likes and always opted by obtaining those organically, this not to mention that I have not found any method that actually works.

Usually buying followers is a scam, what you are buying is someone who has multiple accounts and that uses those to follow you.

I personally don't think buying followers is a good idea, but when u start a business, you need to get it warmed up with followers.

You can start by giveaways, run $50 amazon gift card for example and ask for likes, sure, around 50% of this may leave, but u got small count the make ur small business not as dead.

People don't tend to like or follow a business with no followers.

I have and id suggest you to have a look at Famups as they are the most trusted site to buy views, likes or followers. I have bought Instagram followers from them and they are super legit and made me get new sponsorships as well.
