Hi all, I have a website about drop shipping business, one of my blog post with certain keyword is ranked #5 in google. the review is very well and comprehansive. However I still have no sales at all. I am wondering if my page ranked in google first page and result #5 - how much traffic I will expect. knowing that the keyword has about 1800-2000 searches per month. what should I do.

Hiya Sally,

I recommend the following:

1) Ascertain the actual amount of traffic - specifically the referral traffic numbers from organic search to the article. You need to examine bounce rates and time, behaviour on your website i.e. how many people look around your website after the reading article etc... You may find that your bounce rates are high or your traffic numbers is not much...

2) Check the keyword search stats and make sure it is "exact match" and not "broad match"... I reckon if its "exact match" at approx. 2000 then you'll probably get around 10% ~200 per month - and with a low conversion rate say at around 1-5% that could be a couple of sales per month.... In addition the keyword may be targeting the wrong audience i.e. information seekers vs. buyers...

3) It also sounds like you need to improve your conversion rates... Does your website have clear call to actions? People read the article - but what is it that you really want them to do? If it is to click a link and buy the product then consider being upfront about it... Tell them to click here and purchase... Part of the problem is that you're probably getting cold traffic... and as such most folks will need more time to think about adopting a drop shipping business...

Recommendations:

1) Consider building a list. Offer a bonus relating to drop shipping and use email marketing to build a relationship and promote helpful products... This will help turn cold traffic to warm/hot traffic...

2) Also consider offering a bonus in exchange for the affiliate sale...

3) Have clear calls to action i.e. buttons, arrows etc...

4) Get your website reviewed - quite often other people will see issues that is not obvious...

Hope that helps! Best of luck!!

The position #5 but no sales then you should check value of your keyword again?

It should be quality searchers come from that keyword and it will convert into potential customers or real customers

Are you sure you are searching on browsers without login your Gmail account or cache search results which you are seeing only on your PC?

May you need to ask your friend if they have the same results with you about keyword position?

Check out in your article whether you have placed all the details properly or not?
Also check whether your affiliate links are working fine or not?
Also try to bring your article at #1 so as to get maximum traffic on your article.
Because almost 60% traffic of all searches goes to #1 results so try to catch 1st position. ;)

Could you post your page because there could be an obvious reason that someone here could help you with.
A few things I can think of.
If your getting traffic A/B test different elements to increase conversion.
Maybe you need a funnel or a more optimised one.
Are you building a list on that page?
Where is your call to action?
What is your call to action?
Is your copy convincing?
There are alot of things you can tweak. A/B test one element at a time to increase your conversions effectively which should help you start making sales.

It might be that the keyword you optimized your content for is not getting enough searches per month. In some years back, my client told me that his site was on the first page of google and that he was not making money from it. But when I gave a close look to this problem, I discovered that the keyword he optimized his site for had only 10 searches per month. Then, the question is that who is to blame? My client, google search engine or the google keyword planner tool?
