Hiya Redspan!

Copywriting can be a confusing term for non native English speakers (not that I am saying you are)... For me its the ability to write a sales page with promoting a product.... As simple as it sounds it is definitely not... The best copywriters in the industry charge a fortune!

With that in mind copywriitng is that art of your words reaching into the reader and persuade them to buy! To do that I recommend that you focus on benefits and not features... For example take your time to ask this very simple question "So What?".... write down the answers as far as you can go..... and rinse and repeat with keep asking that same question across the board.... Spend days and days on it... live your life in the shoes of your target audience and learn what is means to feel the pain points....

For example you have developed an awesome mobile gizmo for playing mp3's on the go.... Don't talk about it being 1000++ Gb RAM, etc... Mention that its a small handheld device which carries 100,000 songs in your pocket... Now that is a benefit (a rough example which has always stuck in my mind).... and as a result of keep asking the "so what?" question.... Every niche has tons of them.... Try it... and you'll see what I mean.... it applies to everything....!!!

So in sum - copywriting is the ability to tap into the mind of your target audience and for them to be wanting/demanding your product... In the end words will prevail and not fancy, animated images... Its words which sell.... and that art/skill is what I call copywriting...

I hope that helps...

Best of Luck,

Sid

Copywriting is simply any written material that is related to sell your product or service. To the writings on the back of a shampoo bottle to a product description marketing a piece of jewlery on a website, it's all copywritting.

That's not exactly true. "Copywritting" {Copywriting} is salesmanship in print. It is writing for the purpose of advertising or marketing. The words are meant to persuade someone to buy a product, or influence their beliefs. LOL on the typos. Sorry :hysterical:

Yes, that's exactly what I said. Copy on a shampoo bottle influences people to take action (to buy, beleive, or subscribe) just like your website's poduct descriptions do. Great copy is effective and oringial, and must be varefully tailored to your target audience.

Copywriting is writing copy for the purpose of advertising or marketing. Copywriting is an art. You have to be creative with your words and sentences. The copy is meant to excite someone to buy a product, or influence their beliefs.

Ashleymadea described it beautifully.
